T daq th -i s one of the r_~?ost L odern of the
op t.e ~s -Ch: d yards. The e%trava ;ant outlay for large buildings,
for equipr.,ent, and storage bears -no relation to the actual.'productiorn~
It is Safe to conclude that the s ii )yard has been built as a And of
aesenal.
The yard does not yet have a dock... ;bout two years ago it was planned
that a floating dock would be built there but the plan fell through
for lack of iron and steel as i l: as ti.?e impossibility of finding
F,ace for a dock pit. o it is planned to bui7 a dry dock. or
this purpose it as -)la'aanod to use the cld steel rabbeting from the
former Rerick Luftwaffe harbor. The material turned out to be in
an adva ced state of decay clue to rust. Pln atter.ipt is now being
raze to secure rabbeting elsewhere.
The Larnorr yard built 11~ meter fir, itin ; cutters in 1913 and 19h9.

IIu1 it works only on repp>airing and refitting raised vireeks. The iorr-:er
German liners II INISA, COdDIL LD! 1,, and ?)ER DI UTSC,1E are either
coi l.eted or in repair there. This 22,000 ton iIt L" CTPG is sup, posed.
to be taken there from ,: assnitz where it was raised.--` t present the
Yard is not building any new vessels.,
.3 The channel had to be deepened in order to bring the large vessals
into the yard. Dredgin is still going on. There is cone dEmger
that the shore walls and reinforcements may slip as their foundations
are not deep.
Some years ago there Ira a construction office ostensibly for wind-
pow r apparatus (I,:incikr-ai'twerks) in the Ilohenzollern Hotel in
I;arnemuende. It apparently dealt with shipbui.?ding. It is not
known whether it is still in operation.
