In mid-Larch flight signal instructions for the Chinese Communist Air Force (CCAF) were completed at Fooehow, Amoy, Chienou (11819, 27-04), Ch'angtling (115-20, 25445), and Chluchou (118-52, 28-57). 2. In mid-Liarch some of the COAF planes assembled at Jbite Could Airfield, Canton, were being flown northward. 3. On 22 Larch 9 LIG-15's, piloted by Soviets, left iihite Cloud Airfield for Hainan. Leah plane was equipped with 6 x -a-inch machine guns. 4. An underground air raid shelter at Kuanyinshan (*64 04 ), in the Canton area, is capable of holding 3,000 persons. Construction was started in August 1950 and was completed in late Jannary 1951 by 10,000 civilian laborers. In mid-Lareh a special pormit from Canton municipal authorities was required for entry into. the shelter. The 4 entrances to this shelter are as follows: one beside a waterl,ower on the southwest side of Kuanyinshan opening onto Chunghua (11 ) Road North, one under the SW Yat-sen Lonament opening onto the rear of SUN Yat-sen L:emorial Ilan, one at the end of Hsiaopei ) Road, anti one on the northeast side of Kuanyinshan opening onto Yuehhsiu (A10; ) Road North. On 26 Larch activities at T...;anchurian and Shanghai airfields wore as follows:* a. Antung: Soviet Air Force planes patrolled the area during air raid alerts at 6 a.m., 1 p.m, and 4 p.m. b. Maiyuan: 29 IL-10's of the Chinese Communist 15 Air Regiment flew a training mission under the direction of LIA Chieh-shan.** e. Shanghai: 12 bombers flaw training missions. 6. CaENG is a relative of UAO Tse-tung. CHENG and Ko-li-lo-esu stayed at the residence of YEN Chien-iying, in Tungshan, the eastern suburbs of Canton. Between 22 and 25 :larch 5 F-51's arrived at White Cloud Airfield. Oa 26 Mardi 78 boxes of airplane parts arrived at the asitelun (a/ 41 ) railroad station, Canton, by rail tram Ilaekow. They were immediately sent to a ware- house at aite Cloud Airfield. Uartial law was imposed on Canton while the boxes were being transported to the airfield from the railroad station. 8. Chinese Communist authorities in Canton are planning to build one or two storage depots at the base of a hill at the nerth end of ahite Cloud Airfield and an underground railroad between the field and the depots. Each depot is to have the capacity for 501000 tone of boebs. In mid-March Soviet advisers mere helping Chinese Communists survey the area for the construction of the depots and railroad. 9. 25X1A 25X1A 25X1A On 25 Uarch air activities in the Dairen area were as follows* a. epproeimAtely 60 YAK aircraft are at Chinhsien (12143, 39-07) airfield. Approximately 10 of these planes Ay train-11v missions every Saturday. b. The former Japanese airfield at Choushuitzu (1q 2K-4- ) is beinS expanded by boviet authorities. Three additional runways have been completed. c. The Ta Ho (le. )Hotel in Dairen is being used sa a Soviet Air Faroe billet. d. lienr-esu-ko (11 414 ) (7 flanek), a Soviet, is head of an aviation school in the Dairen area for Chinese Communists.
