SUBJECT Use of American Revolution Bicentennial
Commission Symbol on Agency Letterheads
and Envelopes
1. Action. Requested: Paragraph 4 contains a recom-
niendation-or approval to print the American Revolution
Bicentennial Commissioii (ARC) symbol on Agency stationery
and envelopes.
2. Background: On 15 October 1973 President Nixon
by Ixecutxve Or er authorized the use of the ARBC symbol
by Federal departments and agencies on publications, enve-
lopes, and stationery. Inasmuch as the symbol is intended
to increase awareness of and interest in the Bicentennial by
the public, it has been determined that Agency classified
publications are exempt from carrying the symbol.
3. Staff Position: The use of the symbol on Agency
stationery a_nT_ nvelokpes should be resolved so that printing
specifications can be furnished the Government Printing
Office on future orders. A sample suggesting size and
position of the logogram is attached. If desired the
logogram can also be printed in color as prescribed by ARBC.
4. Recommendation: It is recommended that Agency
stationery an envelopes be printed with the ARBC symbol
as indicated on the attached samples.
