Memorandum for General Walter Bedell Smith
from William J. Donovan
This is to let you know that for the last week
I have been working with your organization as follows:
1) I have been able to bring on a man from
Hawaii, a very capable officer who operated for OSS in
southeast Asia. He was wanted by your people for a par-
ticular reason.
2) Conferred with two of your organization in
order to arrange a meeting with a former member of a
friendly government.
3) Arranged with the head of one of your mis-
sions to provide instructors and was able to give him the
names and addresses of forty competent former OSS men.
4) Wrote to your General Uounsel giving him the
name of l Iwho has certain matters to report on
press in this country.
5) Took up with the General Counsel the possible
use of a distinguished writer here in obtaining information
abroad.
