Tashkent is situated in the sandy lowlands of the Chirchiic. River
Valley. Itis the largest and-most i'hportant city in Soviet Central Asia.
Four SAM launchesites deployed for th fens of. Tashkent have been
25X1D identified on KEYHOLE photography of These sites are
within a radius of 8-14 nautical miles from the center o the city. No
25X1D that time. The suitability for interpretation of the ashkent
photography precludes further analysis. In Figures 2 through 5, the
SAM site configuration as interpreted from the KEYHOLE coverage has
25X1 D been overprinted on TALENT photography.

SAM support f i was identified in this area. A study of TALENT

REMARKS
The site appears complete and is probably operational. The circular
road, six launch revetments, and the guidance area seem to be complete.
A probable support area is adjacent on the northeast.

of Nirai.
REMARKS
The site appears to be in mid?--to-1 stages of construction and is
probably not operational. The six launch .revetments seem to be com.i ?.
The circular road is probably not complete.

10.5 nm SE of RP, on the east side of a canal branching- off the Tash-
kentskiy River.
REMARKS
The site is probably ccmp1 ate and e.perational. The ci::-_ 11a?r road and
the launch revetments appear complete.. A possible fence encloses the
operations area. A probable support area is adjacent to the operations area-
on the northeast.
