SUBJECT : TSG/RED Monthly Report for July 1972
A. Significant Items of Interest for July 1972:
1. Enlarger/Printer. Preliminary tests performed by the
project monitor indicate that the new dry silver paper used in this
instrument is a vast improvement over the old material. It was
hoped that this instrument would be available to IEG for operational
testing in July. ESD has encountered scheduling problems and will
not be able to test this instrument until September, therefore, it
will be October before operational tests can begin.
2. Scan & Search PI Station (SSPIS).is installing
the "programmed scan" on the SSPIS. They are also correcting the
failures reported by ESD
during the acceptance tests.
The SSPIS will be moved into IEG the first week in October for
operational suitability tests.
3. High Intensi Light Source - has been completed and
preacceptance tests will be performed the week of 31 July.

4. Model II Stereomicroscope Eyeshades

the eyeshades are presently in IEG undergoing operational evalua-
tion.

10. Color Simulation Photography~Shooting of the
final set of pictures has begun.
11. National Bureau of Standards. Scanning. Electron Microscopy
Laboratory effort was completed at NBS and the final report will be
submitted by 4 August. A preview of the reports indicated that a
great effort was expended but that striking micrographs of film
relief images were not attained. This was due largely to the virtual
non-existence of a present art in preparing photographic film surfaces
for SEM viewing. Upon receipt of the NBS report, a status report
of our probing effort into SE`4 will be issued.
