This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the C1:1 Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), ztnd the Production
Center 1P la (D1:\). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Pla.
In the- interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (F) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (11) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage'maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries),, (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

A training area is located 2.5 kilometers
(km) southeast of Rayevskaya (Figure 1). This
area is probably used by personnel of the
military installations at Novorossiysk, which is
1=7 km southeast. The training area covers ap-
proximately 1,300 acres and contains a tracked-
vehicle driver-training area, a tank/assault-
gun firing range, an infantry field training
area, an athletic field, and an unidentified
training facility (Figure 2).

DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION
The main road between Rayevskaya and
Novorossiysk passes through the training area.
Administration and Troop Housing Area
A U-shaped support building and 6 small
support buildings are immediately east of the
tank/assault-gun firing range.
Area K contains an athletic field.
Driver-Training Area
Area M is a tracked-vehicle driver-train-
ing area.
Tank/Assault-Gun Firing Range
Area N contains a 4,100-foot range with
two 2,500-foot firing lanes and 2 moving tar-
gets. This range was first observed in
Infantry Field Training Area
Area R is an infantry field training area.
This area was first observed in
Area T is an unidentified training area.
