KIANGNAN NAVAL DOCKYARD, SHANGHAI, CHINA
The Kiangnan Naval Dockyard occupies approximately eighty
acres on the west bank of the Huang-P'u River in the southeast
section of Shanghai (31011'44"N-121029'00'IE). The dockyard
provides facilities for the construction and repair of merchant
and naval vessels. A training school, an arsenal, and a supply
depot are also included within the dockyard area.
A study of aerial photography reveals an expansion of
building facilities in the dockyard area since M (Figure 1,
Plan of the Kiangnan Naval dockyard). Damaged buildings have
been reconstructed. Additional buildings have been constructed
especially in the area to the east and north of the drydocks.
Harbor: An anchorage area exists off the Kiangnan Naval
Dockyard. There are at least eight mooring buoys in midstream.
Landing Facilities: There has been no apparent change in
the Naval dockyard wharf and docking facilities since M

Dx rdocks: Three drydocks are available for ship construction
and repair work. Drydock No. 1 is drydock No. 2 is 25X1D
Slipways: An area 780 feet by 325 feet is used for slipways.
There are a minimum of twelve ship--building ways ranging from 200
feet to 600 feet in length. Twenty-seven stiff-legged derricks
serve the ship-building ways.
Buildings: Buildings in the Naval Dockyard and in the areas
immediately adjacent to the east and west are shown on the attached
