SUBJECT: Employment of Peace Corps Members by CIA
1. The undersigned called on Mrs. Dorothy Jacobsen, Director
of Personnel, Peace Corps, with reference to the President's Memo-
randum of 10 April 1963 regarding the employment of Peace Corps
members by other government agencies.
2. Mrs. Jacobsen was advised that the Director of CIA had
reviewed our policy of not hiring former Peace Corps members, as
a result of the 10 April Memorandum, and had reaffirmed that CIA
would not hire any person who had worked with the Peace Corps.
3. I explained to Mrs. Jacobsen that we were taking steps
to ensure that Agency personnel were aware of this policy. I sug-
gested that it would be helpful if the Peace Corps could brief
their personnel when they are starting to look for other assign-
ments that they should not apply to CIA. Mrs. Jacobsen said she
thought this was a good idea and would take steps to have this
done.
4. Mrs. Jacobsen said she was very pleased that the Agency
was reaffirming a policy of not hiring Peace Corps Personnel and
she appreciated the visit. I informed her that Mr. Irons had also
been advised of our policy.
