SUBJECT: Release of Specified Volumes of the Airfields
and Seaplane Stations of the World (ASSOTW)

1. The Committee on Imagery Requirements and Exploitation
has concurred in a DIA request to release specified volumes of the DIA
publication Airfield and Seaplane Stations of the World (ASSOTW) to
and now requests the approval of the
USIB for such release. The foreign countries involved, the frequency of
updating,and the numbered volumes of this publication requested for
release are listed at Annex.

b. Release of Volume 14 (East Germany,
Czechoslovakia, and Poland) to the
has, in the past, also helped in promoting a mutual
exchange of intelligence with these countries on the
Soviet Bloc areas. Material received from both countries
has contributed directly to information published in the
ASSOTW.
3. Annex C of the Sanitization Manual authorizes the use of
sanitized T-KH material in the ASSOTW, which is classified SECRET.
The Manual also specifies that release to foreign countries must be
approved by the USIB.
4. It is recommended that the United States Intelligence Board
approve the release of volumes of the ASSOTW to as 25X6
specified by the DIA request.
