SUPPLEMENT
1. One incident related to the recent order suppressing the publicat of
military news., issued by the President's Canton Headquarters, as a "leak"
of information reg; rdi r g Pratas Island.
2. This island, approximately 200 Miles southeast of gke g, was taken over
by the Japanese in 1939 and used as a meteorological station., The Chinese
Goverment plan was to reclaim jurisdiction over the island, but it had not
been publicly discussed because of the fear that the Philippine Goverment
might also claim jurisdiction over it.

it dicating the intention of the Government to reclaim the island. This
disclosure caused considerable aonoorn on the part of officials in Ranking,
and was probably one of the causal factors in the suppression order issued
by the President's Canton headquarters
