to In the course of a meeting of the Central Executive Conanittee of the Kuomintang
in Canton on 20 April, W Te-chen and IIUANG Shao-hsiung reported that Gener?al-
isaimo CHIANG Kai-shek was determined not to assume office unless Acting-
President LI Tsung-jen should "surrender.',
2. V+U and HUANG disclosed the above after committee members expressed the
desirability of asking the Generalissimo to return from retirement to accept
the national leadership.
3. l'U and HUANG, who had came directly from Chikow after an interview with CHIING,
stated that the Generalissimo had urged that Kwang-tung join in the support of
LI to continue resistance. The meeting then discussed nays and means of support-
ing LI and improving the Nationalist military position.
