COASTAL DEFENSE SITES
DO SON PENINSULA, NORTH VIETNAM
1. SIGNIFICANCE:
THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS THREE COASTAL DEFENSE SITES ON DO SON
PENINSULA. THE CONFIGURATION OF TWO OF THESE SITES IS SIMILAR IN THAT
BOTH HAVE CONCRETE GUN EMPLACEMENTS SITUATED AT THE 25X1
BASE OF A STEEP HILL.
2. REMARKS:
BECAUSE OF THEIR STRATEGIC LOCATION CONTROLLING THE SEAWARD APPROACH
TO HAI PHONG, THE DO SON PENINSULA AND THE SOUTHERN COAST OF CAT BA ISLAND
ARE OCCUPIED WITH COASTAL DEFENSE SITES.
3. MISSION READOUT:
20-41-28N 106-48-05E (UTM XH875887) A NEWLY IDENTIFIED, ROAD SERVED, UN-
OCCUPIED COASTAL DEFENSE SITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION CONSISTING OF FOUR CON-
CRETE GUN EMPLACEMENTS, IN VARYING STAGES OF CONSTRUCTION, ONE EACH BEING
ATTACHMENT TO L-1612
