ABSTRACT; The question oT determining the maximum consumption of flood

a natural meadow catchment drainage area under application' of
oscillography. The provisional calculations's.re shown in
table 1. Similar computations from the~ValdaYskaya n4u.chno,-,
issledovatel'skaya gidrologicheskaya:lbboraic)riya (Valday:Sci-
entific Hydrologic Reuearch Laboratory) amshown in table 2.
Although the insufficieni number of these computations'per-,
mite no conclusions as to the degree:of influence on:t4e
drainage coefficient, such an analysis can becarried out'on
the basis of the data on the water balance-The . actuallvalue of
the said coefficient in any particular caselcan be determined
only if there are data available on the precipitations~(as
layer) and on the drainage (as hydrograph). In ouch a case, the

Abstract : Investigation of synthetic and natural qartz
crystals pretreated with hot steam under pressure and
etched with HF solution. Following etching cone6ntrio spirals
were detected upon the surface of rhombohedron face. On the
surface of rhombohefton having small protuberances an
etching pit adjoints each protuberance. On face of prism are
hexagonal pyramids the edges of which are parallel to lateral
edges of prism. Photographa are shown of etching patterns of
boundaries of two grahules on prism-face surface. The
observed mechanism of spiral growth is interpreted from the
standpoint of dislocation theory of Frank - Read.

Abstract: The activity of the herbicides Isopr6pyl-N-phenyloirbamaie UPOst
isopropyl-tl-(3-chloropherwi)-carba-mate (chloroIPC), owbetol, alipur,, eptam, 'iiia,
vegadex was studied with respect to monocot and dicat weeds inoat,.buckwh6at',
pea, and sugar beat plantings. 14urbe tol and aptaz proved the I most effective,

cultivation. The herbicidal activity of aptam dopeWed upon the poilad and
depth of its placement in the soils, the aptimun,dose of eptam also depended

respect to the sugar beat,, weak selectivity (,when applied under proplantirg
cultivation) with respect to the pea. Eptam was selsoUvo vith raspa~ot to Viell

roots of various cereals, legumes and weeds on meadows around Lublin.
Expressed as grams of KNO,-~ per 100 Gm. of dry mass, concentrations ranged
up to 1.2 - 5 (common netl:le, Urtica dioica) and 1o7 - 3.3 (Chenopodium
album. This level could cause poisoning in cattle. Table, 1 Hungarian, 1
Polish and 10 Western references.
