Abstract [Authors' English summary modified'
J: The authors
compared the actual fecundity rate observed for the sheep of
an experimental station in Dobrogea with the fecundity rate
calculated by the "non-return" method. They found the actual
rate to be approximately 6 percent smaller than the calculated
one and in view of the relatively small error recommend the
inethod as a very convenient estimation process. While the number
of animals did not affect the results, the accuracy of the esti-
mate depended on the length of time between the start of the
Insemination campaign and the date of the fecundity estimation;
the longer this interval, the smaller the error.

MkRACT: The bimetallio thermometer mentioned in the tillwle was developed by
the authors of the present oomaunication at tho zavod In. Ullymova
(Factory imeni Ullyanov) of the Gor%Y Council of National Economy.
These thermometers have a scale of 0-40DO ihich is radially arranged
an a circular dial, The temperature indicated by a pointer can also
be read from some distance. The permissible metLeuring errors of the
themmeter corresponA to the standards GOBTu M23-45. The sensitive
element of the thermometer consists of a bimettalic spiral. This
thermometer was designed in 2 variants. The firs'. variant is a
oup-abaped thermometer whinh, for instance, can be accammlated in
the door of a heating chamber. The second variant is a rod-shaped
thermometer, the sensitive element of which oan. be introduced in

Abstract With the determination in 75 patients of virus hepatitis
and in 25 patients of other diseases of the liver, an in-
crease was established of 7-35, and sometimes of 9%y in
the content of a1dolase (all enzyme catalyst in the metabo-
lism of carbohydrateo processed by -wie liver) in serum,
in the course of the second and thirl week of illness with
virus hepatitis. Determination of ridolase is proposed as
4k a test for the differentikL diagnosis of epidemic hepati-
tis.

TITLE: 11eather influence on the stresses and deformations
of the Earth's crust near mining and tunnel excava-
tions

TEXT: The present investigation, which is based-on theor-
etical rheology', was concerned with vqe.ak . argillaccous rocks. The au-
thor describes a flat system in polar coordinates with hydrostatic
distribution of the stresses in the undisturbed rock. The excavation
has a spherical cross-section aad is at an appreciable depth. The ob-
tained dep6ndenqies of the stresses, shiftingg deformation and velo-
cities of deformations as a function of time led to the conclusion
that the pressure on the timbering increases from zero to. the initial
magnitude of the stresses'in the rock. The pressure increases with
increasing depth of the excavation and weakening of the rock. The
harder the timbering the more rapidly the ioading increases. Pliant
