ABSTRACT: The footprints of vertebrate qaadrupeds found in the grey
sandstone strata with copper and polymetallic minerali-
zatioa of the Dzhezkazgan Mine, date back over 200 million
years and are considered to be extremely rare. Diverse
geological interpretations of thtse strata were given by
D.G. Sapozhnikov (1948), K.I. Satpayev and V.F. Bespalov,
and N.V. Litvinov'.ch (1956).

being produced In place of leather gaskets, have proved their
value, but their production is very complex, as follows$ The
nachisebuildiag plants produce the shoot steel frames and send
them to the technical rubber plants which prepare the drawings
for metal press-sold&. Then, the press molds and the sheet
stool frames go to aachin*building plants and the metal molds
axe produced. After that, the press-solds go back to the
rubber plants. In this way,, says the author, a gasket goes
thrioo to one plant and twice to the other, thus wasting
time and money. fte rubber plants as a rule set up their

The basic problem is increasing the resolution of -the pbotograph; a resolution of 20-25

vahe to 40-60 lines/mm. In turn, this requires drastic decrease in image motion as-
sociated with the translational movement of the stircraft and its nnml'2r variations. This
problem is reviewed in detail. References are made to the Latest Soviet and Western
literature on all the problems considered. The performance of 10 Soviet aerial cameras
is de"cribed. A limiting factor has been the maximum exposure of 1/50th of a second
characteristic of aerial cameras; a new Soviet camera has an exiwaure up to 1/500th of a
second. This Is particularly Important for obta:LrUng large-~caie photographs in northern
regions. 11he problem of light filters is atscussea only briefly. Dwices for compensa-
tion of image motion are discusseti, particularly gyrostabilization apparatus. The
importance of image motion caused by vibration ofthe aircraft and operation of aerial
camera mechanisms also is considered. Particular attention is given to the information
losses sustained as a result of imperfections in the process of contact printing on photo
paper; various ways in Which this process can be J.mpr6ved are reviewed. One section is
