Abstract: A study was conducted on the size of leaf epid-
ermis cells on two hybrids - Melyanopus 69 x
Dlinnokolosaya 120 and Narodnaya x Dlinnokolos-
aya 120. Variety Dlinnokolosaya 120 needs
greater soil humidity; varieties Ilelyanopus 69
and Narodnaya are less demanding in this regard.

ABSTRACT: The stability of the f(.,llowing materials in acid sodium chlorite solutions
was investigated: technical titanium, steels KhlBN12MT, OKh23N2WD3T, alloys
N70=7'EI639), Kh15N55M16V(EF375), and a number of plastics, wood composition
materialst and rubbers 1001, 1225, 1256, 4476, 49900 6298-1, 6253, and 8-LTI. The
corrosion experiments were carried out at PH 3.6--5 and at temperatures of 60-85C,
over a period of 120 hours. It was found that the most stable metallicspecimens were:
technical titanium, alloy OT4, and steel Khl5N55Ml6V# in that order, and the most
stable nonmetallia specimens were fluoroplast-4, Plastic PKhV, and vinyl plastic. N.

ABSTRACT: The relation between the ionic strength of a solution and the
voltage jump at the metal-solution interface was studied, and the
potential was employed to determine the effect of the ionic strength
of the solution upon the rate of Fe corrosion. Experiments were
conducted on the solution of Fe in I and 2 M H 2so 4 solutions with
added NazS04, ZnS04, and AIZ(SO4)3, in concentrations of 0. 1
to 0.5 gram equivalents. The experiments also determined the
magnitudes of the electrode potentials necessary to find the elec-
trolyte activity factors. The results obtained show that addition
of sulfates upon solution of Fe in H2504 increases the ionic strength
of the solutions and simultaneously reduces the rate of Fe disso-

TEXT: In continuing their investigations the authors aim, in the present
work, to find a relation between the structure of aliphatic acid hydra-
zides and their reactivity. For this purpose hydrazides of acetic, pro..
pionic, butyric, formic, phenylacetic, and phenoxyacetic acids were acy-
lated with benzoyl chloride according to: ?.RCONHNH 2 + CICOC6H5-
RCONIINHCOC H5 + RCONHNH 11C1. The hydrazides of the above acids were pre-/
pared in Re usual mannirg. The rates of acylation were determined by
electrometric measurements of hydrazide content in the reaction mixture
of the hydrazide and acylating agent after a given time interval, It was
found that the velocity constants were practically independent of the

initial concentration of reactants and that the reaction proceeded at a
rate similar to that of benzohydrazide and its derivatives where tht.
rate of benzoylation was affected by the polarity of the substituents~ The
