TEM The author describes metal interference filters, preferred to all
other filters because of their higher efficienoi and handiness, for the
production of monochromatic light from the ultraviolet to the infra region.
Transmission metal interference filters are produced by the application of
two well reflecting semi-transparent metal coatings - separated by a non-
-transparent layer of salt (dielectric) - to a transparent sheet, Bay
glass. A proper choice of the reflection factoreq,of the material and
thickness of the dielectric makes it possible for only a very narrow band
of the,wave range of the light (about 8-12 nm/m-9/) to be transmitted.'

sizes and forms. Their importance is growing with the development of va-
cuum engineering, especially vacuum evaporation, applied in their Drepa-
ration. The authors illv.strate the method of calculation by an example
(~\max ~ 550 nm, W = 10 nm). N max is calculated from the approximative

calculation are illustrated in Pigs, 3 and 4. The Gamma Optical Works
have conducted research into the.technological problems of the production
of homogeneous metal interference filters. They have found that in the
visible spectrum range (400-750 nm)v filters of 25-35% maximum transmis-

TITLE: A new type of shake-proof voltage relay

TEXT: Existing voltage protecting relays, used mainly in workshops
for touch Drotection, bave a large operating current (about 50 MA)
and are sensitive to vibration forces of about 2.5 g. The Work Pro-
tection Research Institute (Hungary) designed a Zew relay in which
the.,.,.energizing coil is located 6n the central column of an E-shaped
iron core, and the air gap of the armature is 0.6 - 0'.7 mm. The re-
lay operates at 20 - 26 mA; the corresponding power is 0.5 - 0.55
VA. A spring device produces a contact pressure of 1 - 2 kg. The
relay, which is in mass production at the Ganz Works, can withstand
a vibration force of 10 g, and is also tested 10,000 times for a
-vibration force of up to 25 g without spurious.relay operation. The

relay is hermetically enclosed and has a new type of push-button
for switching and testing. The field of application is outlined, in
particular for mobile current collectors. The prototype of a.3-phaSe

ABSTRACT* This machine serves for controlling the hardness of fastening
pins and similar articles according to the coercive force.
L. G. Doropey, D. T. Yushchenko, Ye. I. Shkolenko and A. S. Ko-
sik took part in-the construction of this machine. The test pin
is conveyed from a container via a distributing device into a
vertical pipe (850 mm long). During this stage the pin is
comrletely magnetized (in a magnet coil), demagnetized (in a
demagnetizing coil) and induces an electromotive force in the
form of a single sinusoid in the measuring coil. Dependent on
the polarity and the magnitude of the amplitude of the sinusoid
the pin is conveyed into one of the cells (for hard, soft or
normal art4j.cles) by means of a special electron scheme. The
number of controlled pins is recorded by a counter. This auto-
matic machine can control 7000 9-iort or 3000 long pins per
