ABSTRACT: ~~he author gives-formulae.expressing the functional do endence
between operational parameters (characteristical sizes~ of
stripping mechanisms and elements of the mining systems. He
develops a graphical method for an analysis of operational
parameters ofthe stripping mechanisms and shows that this
method facilitates to choose rationally these parameters in
correspondence with the mining systems used and physico-
~mechanical properties of the rocks stripped.
The author concludes that simple non-transport systems can not
be used for strip-mining of deposits covered with large thick-
nesess of overburden rocks.. Complex, non-transport mining systerm
permit to mine deposits with considerable thickness of over-

The effect f* filler wire composition on the thickness of the transition
zone aqand fh~ strength of welds between carbon steel 3 and MfLs, A11g5 or
ANg6 alumin' alloys has been investigated. Steel and alloy specimens
~.5 mm thick ere,TIG welded with',AK, MIgS, AMg6, or experimental filler
wire:contai ing (up to) 81 Silicon, 5% copper, 152 zinc, 3%'nickel, or
J.6% beryll.um, The eiperinents showed that the strength of steel-
aluminum JbInts*increased with decreased thickness of the transition
zone. OptiI6 results were obtained in welds made with a filler wire
containing ~-4.5% silicon, These welds bad a transition zone 3-5 p

stability in cylinirical shells, are studied analytically, using products of two
