15 or so years, primarily US although only a few authors are named in
the text and there are no bibliographic references. The pharmacologic.
and toxicologic aspects are discussed in greater detail than the
microbiologic or therapeutic - clinical considerations, but sensitivity
testing, spread of bacterial resistance and combination therapy with
mixed antibiotics are discussed; also steroid-antibiotic combined
therapy and preventive use of antibiotics.

TITLE- Czech Cargo Trucks (Chekhoslo,vatskiye gruzovyye a,itomobili)
PERIODICAL: Avtomobillnaya promyshlennost', 1958, Nr 10, P 43-46 (USSR)
ABSTRAM. The present development of Czech cargo truck building is re-
viewed. Tables 1 and 2 contain data on contemporary Czech
trucks &nd their engines. The production of the truck Tatra-
111 waa discontinued in 1958. All Tatra engines are air-
cooled while those of the other trucks are water-cooled.
Diesel onginea vith horne powor ratinge ranging '~"rom 60 to
340 hp are being developed at the Tatra plant, for exnmple
T-924 and T-926, the latter a six cylinder V engine. in '
1957 oxperiments were conducted with the 12-cylinder V-en-
gines T-930 and T-930K (with supercharger'i. The tests will
be COMD'Ieted in 1958 and-the mass production of the engines
is scheduled for 1959. The indexes of sone of the new air-
cooled Tatra engines are better than those of comparable en-
gines in Germany, The Tatra-605, 4X4, is equipped with a
tire pressure control system with which t';.Ie tiros may be in-

ABSTRAM. This is an an-count of the difficulties of space ex-
ploration. The 3rd Soviet satellite weighs 1327 kg;
the lst., lauached on jan 2, 1959, weighs 1472 kg in-
cluding the last stage of the rocket, which is more
than the ZIL car engine. A second-.Soviet'cosmic
rocket reached the Moon on Sept..14, 1959. On the
7th Oct a third rocket photographed the reverse side
of the Moon. To reach Venus,_anJ_nterDlanetary
craft must leave the Earth at 11.5 km/sec- to reach
Mars - 11.6 km/sec; to reach Mercury.- 13.5 km/sec.
The first and second Soviet rockets developed speeds
slighly less than the first two at the Earth's sur-
Card 112 face. It is estimated that, if the 3rd Soviet rocket
