Abstract study was made. of the antigenic properties of 3 cancers of
which were similar histologically: liver matestases from
cancer of the appendix,, liver metastases from cancer of the
Gallbladder and primary hepatic carcinoma. Rabbits were in-
munized with the appropriate tumor and the imune sera (S)
were tested in BCF with saline extracts of timor and normal
tissues (liver and spleen). S of rabbits that had been in-
munized with normal liver and spleen were used as a control.
After the immune antitumor S had been absorbed by normal
splenic tissue the S lost its ability to react in RCF with
antigens of normal organs but continued to react with the

TITLE: New method of feeding technological lubricants into the deformation
zone in drawing

TEXT: In the Draw Bench Laboratory of VNIINMIASh the possibilities of
higl-i-pressure.lubrication.in the deformation zoi~e of the wire were studied. A
laboratory-type (5/250) draw bench was used in combination with a continuous-
operation stationary drum coiler. The bench was equipped with a special wire
holder. The lubricant was a mixturp of spindle oil and some 30.5, kerosene; it
was fed through a F)/%-.'~-7/6000 (MM-7/6000) type high-pressure hydrocompressor,
(System L. ~. Vereshchagin, capacity: 7 1/hour; working liquid pressure: up to
6,000 kg/cm ). The drawing force was measured by a special device, in which the
wire drai-m aQtuates 3 rolls, two of which are fixed on a levar arm, stationary
in respect of the block, while the third, fixed on a guide,,moves along the in-
strument-axis.. The opposite end of the guide is pressed to a coil-spring, which,

under pressure, transmits the -force imparted (through various elements) to tensi-
metric transmitters. The force exerted ft indicated by the displacement of the
guide. The 1.60 mm thick test wire was made of C 0 (St.0) steel, having a
strength limit of 65 kg/cm2. The drawing rate could be varied between 0 and
8 m/sec. The tests were carried out at a low drawing rate, while the lubrication
pressure wasgradually raised from 0 to 4,500 - 5,000 kg/CM2. An increase in
lubrication pressure reduced the drawing force required. With a 12o working cone
of the die and a reduction of 25.4/co" the foll~owing values were obtained;

Analogous results were obtained with 2reductions of 35 and 17 - M, - With alubriCa-
tion pressure of 4,000 - 5,000 Yg/cm the drawing force can thus be 'reduced by
18 : 20%. If the lubrication pressure were raised still higher (5,100 - 5.-200
kj-cm2) liquid friction could be expected along the entire length of the deform--
tion zone and there would be no contact at all between the wire and the instru-
ment, as the value of the lubrication pressure would then exceed the value of the
specific pressure of the metal at the beginning of the deformation zone. However,
when lubrication pressures above 5,100 kg/CM2 were applied, the wire ruptured

conference noted the recent, significantly increased volume and scope
of scientific and experimental work In the field of electromagnetic
hydrodynamics, and the growing number of research institutions engaged
in the development of general and special problems in the electromag-
netic hydrodynamics, partienlarly for the needs of production. A
number of industrial plants In the Soviet Vnion have already installed
various electromagnetic devices and equipment which are now being
tested under Industrial conditfons. 'Such equipment at the Yenakiyeve
Metalluraical Plant Includes #(,,30-m long electromagnetic pump ith IL
capacity of up to 400 ton castx-iron per hour, a 100 t/hr capacX unit
for desulfurizing liquid cast fil-ont a 60 t/hr capacity unit for the
purification of liquid metaln,%rom nonmetallic inclusions and slag -
particles, and an apparatus M studyiikg the effect of constant and
alternating magnetic fields on the crystallization of ingots weighing
up to 100 kg. Elect netic ipunipeff for liquid metal are operating at
the Nikitovka sercuryvilant. The Saviet...Union has one plant where
light alloys arV-WrFVributed and poured exclusively by means of else-
tromagnetic puakps. One continuous steel casting unit is equipped with
an experimental-industrial device which stirs the liquid core of Ingots.
The conference recommefided that the State Committee on Science and
Techniques at the Council of Ministers SSSR include the problem of

TEXT: The signaler of strong earthquakes is destined for accom-
plishing the service of urgent reports. In contrast to other simi-
lar devices the signaler dispenses with photocurrent amplifica-
tion; this ensures the sim lic1ty of its layout. The electrical
scheme consists of a type (,-k2,(FS-K2) photoresistance, a battery
with a voltage of 200 v. , nd a n P-4 (PR-4) relay connected in se-
ries. In the anticipation position the FS-K2 is illuminated by
light reflected from the mirror of a working galvanometer. During
an earthquake the light spot descends from the FS-K2, the photo-
current diminishes, and the relay armature closes the contacts con-
nected with the callosity and signalling circuit. After a certain

ABSTRACT V.S.Goleniskckey was prominent within the fields of science and cultu-
r . Already in his youth (he was born in 1856) he developed a predilec-
tion for the antique culture of Xgyptt a predilection which later fii-
led his entire life. As a young man he studied the language and the
script of the ancient Egyptians. On the 3 March 1874 a German review pu-
lisked a report about his first investigations carried out in this field.
Already as a student he attracted attention by his brilliance. He was in
close touch with his teacher, the famous exper! on Arabic culture and
language . V.R.Rosea, under whose supervision LAd guidance he studied the
Arabic language. He had the great talent of being able to distinguish bet-
ween genuine works of art and imitations. Though he was mainly interested
in manuscripts, he also devoted muck of his attention to monuments and
other works of art. He specialized in the study of Egyptian grammar, par-
ticularly syntax,, but unfortunately his work has not yet been- printed.
He also translated sane important works of Egyptian literature. These
were the treasures which he presented to science (Museum of the Eremi-
tage, papyrus Nr U15,, Adventure on the Enchanted Isle). He was devoted
to science with all his heart, and his devotioL and loyality to friends
were well known. Also outside Russia Golexishchev's Work was known and

years professor of Cairo University, and he founded the National Socie-
ty of Ngyptoligists.
The lootk anniversary of Golenishckev's birthday, was celebrated on the
7 and 8 December 1956 meeting of scientists. In tke course of the o-
Pening speech it was pointed out that Goleniskchev was not only one of
Russia's greatest egyptologi3te,, but also that he organized the teach-
ing of egyptology at Cairo University, a fact which contributed towards
consolidating the friendship between the two countries. After several
Russian scientists W spoken about Golenishckev's excellent qualities,
B.B.Piotrowsky, Dr.kist., read a letter written in the name of all par-
ticipants and addressed to Egyptian scientists, in wkich ke assured
them of the solidarity and the friendship of Russian scientists and ex-
pressed the hope that 14ypt's just cause will win. The paper ends by
saying that unfortanately so foreign guests were able to be present
because of Anglo-French aggression against Egypt.

Abstract A statist.ical study was made of the effect of grain size of the micro-
structure"and of the chemical composition on the value of H. of Armco iron)
