TITLE: Efficiency of reflectors for qolid-state ~7'
SOURCE: Zhurnal prikladnoy spektroskopii, v. 5, no. 2, 1966, 167-171
TOPIC TAGS: solid state loser, laser reflector, pumping source, xenon lamp
ABSTRAM Methods of determining the efficiency of solid-state laser reflectors were
considered. The erriciency of elliptic- and circular-cylinder reflectcra and the
distribution of pumping energy in cylindrical neMymium-glass rods were determined
experimentally. Elliptic-cylinder reflectors were prepared fron mc-tal with a surface
coefficient of reflection R - 0.8-0.9. The flashlamp and the glnss rod were placed
along the major Eals. CirculAr-eylinder reflectors were nade of glass tubes whose
outer surface was silver-coated (R - 0.9). 'llie reflector end-cupa were made of
metal (R zz 0.8-0.9). The flashlamp and specimen were pariLlIel to the cylinder axis
and were equidistant from the center. Ilie utsuidnrd rerlector used in the comparAtIve
experiments consisted or rour spherical mirrors with 13 - 0.8. 'Ale effil:iency of the
elliptic-and c1rcular-cylinder reflectors was determined from the comparlson of the
generation energy of power therein with that of Lite sWidni-d i-4~1'lector. expet'i-

with results obtained elsewhere (Yu. A. Ananlyev and Ye. A. Korolev, 0 & S, 16, 702,

can work through the next campaign after having been cleaned.
The impenetrability of fire channels and valves has to be in-
