TITLE: Original Zoning In the Hydrothermal 3re Deposits of
Georgia jervichanaya zonallnost' v gidrotermallnykh

PERIODICAL: Tr. Gruz. politekhn. In-ta, 195b, Nr 3 (44), pp 32-39.
ABSTRACT: ThB author reviews the development of the theory
pertaining to original zoning of hydrother-nal deposits,
ani proceeds to a criticism of views expressed by N. M.
Pr)kopenko. The letter admits that zoning In the
Caicasus is associated, to a considerable degree, with
st:,actural factors; that Is, he recognizes "Inter.-d ttent
zo.-iing," which occurs with intermittent inflow of ore-
bearing solutions of various nowposition into newly
forming fissures. However, he mistakenly assumes the
development of zoning, as defined by Emmons, in some

variation in the solutions in space, especially In the horizontal
direction around separate Intrusive blocks. Bowever, direct Inter-
mittent zoning is of basic importance both in the vicinity of and at
a distance frori all ore-bearing bodies of Georgia. Thus, for
example, zoning as understood by Emmons is not observed at all in
the Tsenskiy, (;horokhskiy, and other oro-bearing intrusives;
instead, the rmtlti-stage nature of the ore-forming process is
distinctly seen to be associated with tectonic movements. There is
no gradual transfer of lead-copper mineralization into copper and
of copper mdneralization into pyrite in the Merisi group of deposits,
as was indicated by N. M. Prokopenko. Here the author shows two
distinct stages of minorelization--an earlier quartz -chalcopyri te,
and a later galena-sphalerite. The general extension of one or
another stage and period into the depths does not depend on original
zoning, but rather on structural and lithologic factors, and
especially on a favorable combination of these factors. Thus
Prokopenko's assertion that a relatively rapid thinning of vaiuable
mineralization at 100 m to 300 m is characteristic for the Caucasian
hydrothernal deposits is erroneous; structural and lithologic

-peri,,nental studies were carried out on the four methods for obtaining large ring
:currtnts of relativistic elec-crons: (1) spiral method of 3toring the eActrons In
t installations of the betatron type with subsequent betatron synchrotro-, .-Iccelera-
tion (Budker G. I. CERN S)nnposium 1, 68 (1.956); (2) obtaining of limiting electron
,curvents by means of the injection ~f electrons from a strvng-current linear ac-
calurator Into a -ring chamber of large aperture with subsequent synchrotron accele-
:ratlon; (3) storage of electrons In tracks (parking orbita) with constant magnetic
;field by means of the multiple injection of clectrons from another les5 strong-
,current accelerator:, this method Is utilized for the storage of electrons and pcoi-
~trons In experimento with colliding beam-. (expounded in detail by G. I. BAker
in the prerient collaction, p. 2714); (4) obtaining of large electron currents by
,means of the acceleration of electrons by a ring plasma. The prv-sent report dis-
~ctzcses the first tw *o methods under tht following topics; (1) pulsed Iron-loss
:~hetatron with pr,,!Iiminay7 charge storage (B-2 device); strong-current pulsed syn-

ABSTRACT: The effects of some drugs on llemodynamit-,3, r~.,spiration and tissue
metabolisin was studied in mice, rats arid rabbits cooled to 19-20C. Caffeine
(10 mir per kg) arid euphyllin K 0 mg per kg) have caused .1 stable decrease of' AD
and 'have depressed the tii3suc metabolism levelfj (the quantity of glycogen, ATP
and electrolytes). Cordiamin (25 mg per kg) has also lepressed the AD and inter-,!-
fercd with the respiratory and cardiac activity. Lobeline did not affect the
respiration. Bcinegride and KM have lowered the AD and sharply Inhibited

and AD did not vary. Morphine (I mg per kg) did not contribute to an Increase of

effect of insulin ard spastic effect of strychnine and camphor was found to be
weaker during hyp.)thermia. A. Novik, [Translation of abstract) [AM]

detd. b~r measuring the heat capacity of the calorimeter filled with povd. R-quartz,
heat capacity of which was known. Heat capacity from " to 2400 was meadhred for
3 samplos of K silicat!t glass with compn. of 120 210,, S102 80 mol.% (heated 205 and
963 hrs, at 620), and for a sample of Na silicate glafs with compn. of Ne.0 23
S102 77 mol.%. The error of measurement did r3t exceed 12%. In the change of Lat
calecit.r no anomalies were observ-ad in any sample; this indicates the. absence of
noticeable amts. of S1.02, sinne phase conversions in free SiO would caus anomalous
absorpt'ion of heat. The sdnsitivity of the method was insufficient for aeconclusion
concern'.ng presence of SIO, irt the sample of soda glass. When he-it capacity- of povd.
AgI was measured at 145.00', -a shazifheat-capacity Max. was obeervad-, corresponding
to a po`.ymorphous#-P ~L conversion. Heat capacity of a kgI-KI eutectle melt Am%
measured close to 145.00. The absence of an anoralous absorption of heat it
considered proof of the existence of the chem. compd. (AgI)2KI in the system.
