In the present exptq. formation of the same type of compd. was shown far chloro- AM in the adsorbed state (on sucrose). The pigment was rxtd. from the leaves of the nettle (Urt" dioica) and chromat6graphed through EL layer of powd. sucrose Dog a ligroine-benzenesotn. III such adsorbed condition it*provtd very Photosensitive and was bleached rapidly. On addn. of one crystal of p-nitrosodimethylaniline prior to cl,roma- tography the cluate was quite stable to light, The effect Of the lliuvsO compd. in this case wasnot due to its light- fiftering Properties (as internal filter), but to f9rmation of a light-stable addn. compd. with chlorophyll, even vileu the latter wag In the adsorbed state, The nitroso compd. itself is not adsorbed by sucrose but passes the chromato- graphic colt-mr; unchanged. It was shown further that sucrose-ads,orbed chlorophyll emits intense red fluorescenctj In ultraviolet light. However, whin the chro matography was performed in the presence of the above nitros ompd,, the fluWeSctnee waa much weakened and wxs clogcrar.red nhade, This cxti~gt;jjIljljg (:ffcct exhibited by the inhibitor - Oil tile ligroine-benwic Cluate of chlorophyll wai qualita- tively quite similar to the same effect on the AfrOll of Chl'ooph I 6scrib-I before (Ioc~ cit.). Tesu of gu-ra~e an all adsorCit were eartled ouj with chlorophyll alone and Alowed thitt the properties of the Cluatc (butil 1. tuld b chlorophyll) were the same " those of tionchromato- graphed chlorophyll. Sucrose is a'~ neutral Rdsurhrnt anti exerts true affinity to some comptis., hence all- - sorbcd chlorophyll forms an adsorption rather than polar compd. with sucrose. The adsorption cornpd. between sucrose and the aromatic nitroso chlorophyll complex i9 a true adinrpflun. Therefore the affinity between the allinrlivil nitroso compd. and chlorophyll remains unchanged in com- parison with the nonadsrbed one. In the case of polar adsorption affinities these would form at the expense of tht. inner affinitin of the aromatic nitroso chlorophyll complcx itscif, weakening the latter so that the complex would -cl"omp. The opposite was shown in these exptsr. on the sensitivity to ultraviolet light and thermal oxidation. , The stability of this complex, even in the adsorbed -.late, is re- garded by V. as a qual. proof of the existence of complex formation between aromatic nitro and nitroso compds. and C. Shortcomings of the wire produced by this method, especially its high brittleness after the diameter has been considerably reduced by drawing. Variations in the production process, based on a series of tests, arc sug- gested. The new process is based on adequate glowing of the rolled wire before drawing. MPT, total protein, albunin, alphal, alpha2, beta, and gamma-globulins, and sedimentation rate were determined once a week, ABLO titres once every three weeks. Average sedimentation rates declined from the original value of 74 to 23 at the end of the period. Average MPT values declined from 6.6 mgc/o' to 4 Dig%, ASLO titres from 542 to 258 units. Total protein, alphal and beta fractions did not change, average albumin values rose from 47 to 54%. Average alpha2 values declined from 12.5 to .ji%, gama globulin 21.7 to 16.5%. 1 Pigure,, 13 Tables, 2 Western 1/1 5 Czech, 1 Hungarian reference, (Ms. rec. Jun 65). T ITLEs EqulpmenC for growing metal single crystals PERIODICAL; Hutnicki listy, no.9, 1962, 674 TEXT'l The report describes experimental'equipment for growing i single crystals of metals. The equipment is designed in such a way that it enables: a) preparing single crystals of metals or alloys with fusion points up to 11000C by the Bridgman or Chalmers.: method from melts; 4) preparing single crystals of metals or alloys under investigation by the method of recrystallization; C) annealing metallic specimens in an inert or reducing atmosphere and possibly in vacuum. The passage of the temp-erature gradient through the specimen is affected by moving the furnace along a quartz tube into which the specimen in placed. This eliminates a number of difficulties connected with moving the specimen when vacuum or special atmospheres are used. Research Report SVdMT Z-61-1085. 16 pages, 6 figures. The set-up is so designed that it allows: a) growing single crystals of metals or alloys with a m6lting point up to 1,1000C from Ahe melt using the Bridgman or Chalmers method; b) growing single crystals of the investigated metals by the recrystallization method; c) annealing imetal specimens in inert-gas or reducing atmosphere, or in a vacuum. Paso- :ing of the specimer, through heat gradient is accomplished by the travel of ithe furnace along a quartz tube containing the specimen. Through this or- ~rangement a number of problems was avoided which iould arise if some other technique of moving the specimen through vacuum or special atmospheres were employed* OCAbstracterto nops Thiq is a complete translation of an abstract from the Vyzkumt& sprava SVUMT (SVOJU Research Report)no.
