Abstract: A case of large-cyst neurinoma originating in the greater omentum is described. The syndrome caused diagnostic difficulties; it exhibited the clinical symptoms of a malignant tumor and led to a serious deterioration of the patient's condition. Authors state that in cases such as this no diagnostic help may be oxpected from laparoscopy, and they recommend the performance of an exploratory laparotomy at the earliest possible time. 3 References, all Western. The motors are equipped with an independent closed-circuit ventilation. Two doors and viewing windows are provided for servicing the commutator and brush gear. The motor is equipped with a tachometric generator and a centrifugal switch. In 1944, the works developed turbo-exciters series VT which are still being made in modernised form. The idea was to design a standard turbo-exciter which could be used to replace any defective exciter, Hence the machine had its own bedplate and two pedestal bearings. A simple type of coupling is used to connect the exciter to the alternator. A typical turbo-exciter is illustrated in Fig 1, and the principal technical data of the series are given in Table 1. The Uralelektroapparat works is a principal supplier of skip-winding equipment for blast furnaces. The main characteristics of these motors are given and a typical example is illustrated in Fig 2. Large slow- speed winding motors for mines are builti their technical Card 1/2 characteristics are given in Table 2. A typical motor of this kind Is illustrated in Fig 1+. The advantages of SOV/110-59-7-3/19 Direct-Current Motors and Generators of the Uralelektroapparat Works the Ward Leonard system of control are described, and a general description is given of the construction of winding motors. The works manufactures d.c. rolling-mill motors and has recently built two motors type DPP310/150-18 each of "00 kW for driving a slabbing mill. Two similar motors of 4400 kW have been built to replace existing motors. In 1958 the 'Uralmash' works manufactured a new oil- drilling installation with diesel-electric drive. The motors and generators for these sets were designed and manufactured by the 'Uralelektroapparat' works. Direct current is used to supply the main motors on this drilling rig, One of the motors used in the sets is illustrated in Fig 5. Special constructional features of the machines are briefly described. In addition to the machines mentioned, the works manufactures other d.c. machines for Card 2/2 various ap lications. The effects of stimulation of the peripheral vagus stump or in- jection of AD, and of sympathetic stimulation or adrenaline injection, were then studied. Vagal stimulation (or ACh) lowered the monophasic curve and caused a terminal deflection of opposite sign to the monophasic curve (negative after-potent- ial sign of negativizing activity in the heart). Sympathetic stimulation (or adrena- line) raised the monophasic curve and sometimes caused a terminal deflection of the same sign as the monophasic: curve (posilive afte r- potential; positivizing ac- tivity in the heart). These changes in the monophasic curve cannot be interpreted by simple vectorial analysis, as the modificatory factor acts at the same time on the intact tissue, the lesion and the perilesional. zone. Abstract:[Eng,lish article, authors' English summary] Acute experiments have been performed on 16 dogs and 27 cats (curare and chloralose anaesthesia), to study the tensional phenomena occurring in simultaneous activation of the central vegetative projections which play a role in the control of arterial blood pressure. Thus, besides some tensional changes which take place at simultaneous activation of the cortical and hypothalamic vasomotor projec- tions, the relations between hypothalamus and midbrain reticular formation have been investigated, using as indicator the phasic changes of arterial blood pressure brought about by electric stimulation of those two nervous,! centers. Likewise, investigations have been carried out concerning the effect of hypothalamus and midbrain reticular formation stimulation on the on the sinocarotic pressor reflex induced by bilateral occlusion of the common carotid arteries. The results obtained indicated that simultaneous stimulation of the pressor points of the motor cortex and the hypothalamus and anterior rhinencephalon in dogs and cats induces a phenomenon of spa- tial stm=tion generally, and an effect of the occlusive type, rarely. 1/2 18 hUXOARY Eudapest, Acta Physiologica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae, Vol XXIV, No 1, 1963, pages 101-115 'When induced by tensional effects of various values, the summation pheno- menon had a linear character, its correlation coefficient being calculated in terms of the nervous areas explored. Simultaneous stimulation of the hypothalamus and the mesencephalic reticular formation usually brings about tensional effects of summation and, occasionally, occlusive or independent effects. Stimulation of these areas usually facilitates the sinocarotic pressor reflex and, in rare cases, hinders or does not influence it. 33 Western, 4 Eastern European references. 2/2 BITTHAN E.; RAICIULESCU, H. Acts, physiologicat Vs 26,, no. 1-2p 1965pigi TOPIC TAGS: cat do , brain, neurophysiology, reflex activity ABSTRACT: The effeN of electrical-stimulation of the mesencephalic reticular formation on SOMS sympathetic and parasympathetic autonomic reflexes has been studied in acute experiments on cate and dogs under anaesthesia. In one set of experiments, the effect of liminal and supraliminal stimulation of the zBsencephalic reticular formiation by means of monophasic square wave current was studied on the carotid pressor reflex induced by bilateral occlusion of the common carotid for 15-20 sec- In another set of experiments, the effect of similar stimulation on the mesencephalic reticular formation was studied on the vesico-constrictor reflex induced by stimula- tion with monophasic rectangular pulses of the central end of the transected pelvic nerve. I'he results are discussed briefly in the report. A comparison of the two sets of experiments indicates that stimulation of the Me8encephalic reticular formatio usually facilitates the carotid sinus pressor reflex and inhibits the vesico- constrictor pelvic reflex. The functional significance of this finding has been discussed in the original article. (Orig. art. in Eng.] [JPRS] SUB CODE*. 06 / SUBM DATES. none C.'d 1/1 fv BITTMANj, 0.
