found that the composition of the gases emitted -
in the course thereof, varies as-the process pro-
gresees. Molar ratio of NaC103 and C12 increases
due to accumulation of CIO, in the solution and
change in the mechanism of the reaction'associated
with lowering of the concenttatioh of NaC103. On
the basis of experimental work (carried out by a
continuous method) it was asdertained that this
ratio is higher in the cas6'of redWtion of more
dilute solutions. - Vittr a* adficentration of NaC 103
within the range of 30'100'mole per I liter, CIO.,
was obtained with'a small admixture of C11. (molar
ratio CIOI:Cl;. above 30).

TEXT: A method is discussed of the numerical solution of
the problem of finite plastic deformations of a momentless shell of
variable thickness under the action of a uniformly distributed pres-
sure. The material of the shell is assumed to be incompressible;
it is considered that the principal tangential stresses are related
to each other as are the corresponding displacements; the maximum
tangential stress is a power function of the maximum displacement.
In the role of a possible supplement to the method the case is con-
sidered of the hydrostatic stretching of a dome-shaped shell with

TEXTs In contrast with earlier papers (Refs. 1-6, 8-10) which have re-
ported on the nitration of cyolohexene with diluted HBO 3 or with nitrogen
oxides in the liquid phase, the authors have used 98.5 to 99-7~ EN03
in the vapor phase. Its amount related to cyloohexene (5.2 t 1) was
calculated in a way as to ensure a complete oxidation (combustion) of the
latter. The reaction was performed at atmospheric pressure and 1000C in
a quartz tube during a contact time of 6-5 sec- (occasionally 1.63 see.).
A complicated mixture of products found to form in this connection contain-
ed nitro-f nitroso-, nitrate-, hydroxyl-, carbonyl-, and carboxyl groups
in various combinations. Also the formation of cyclohexene nitro nitrite
(in accordance with Ref. 5) is said to be possible. It can be subjected to

hydrolysie and give rise to nitro cyclohexanol. The following substances
were separated and identifieds oyclohexene peaudonitrositel nitro oyclo-
hexanonel 1-nitrocyclobexenel keto cyclohexyl nitratel nitro cyclohexyl*
nitrate; dinitro cyclohexans; 1,2-cyclo.b;xanedione; a compound with the
empirical formula C 6H10'21 2-nitro oyclohexanoli 112-ayolo hexanedione
mononitrate, adipic, oxalic, and succinic acid. It was found that in those
cases where a cis- trans-isomerism is possible in the compounds synthesiz-
ed, a mixture of isomers with prevailing trans-form results as a rule.
It was concluded that the oxidation processes play a major part in the
complicated reaction mentioned. Above all, their study will contribute to
understand the self-inflammation process of cyclohexene with concentrated

TEXT: This article reviews the development of the Czechoslovakian optical
and precision mechanical industry since world war 11, which was reorganized be-
tween 1951 and 1952. The "Meopta" Plant in P~erov was specialized in the pro-
du-Ition of cameras, enlarging, cinematograpFI-c-aln-T laboratory equipment. The
"Meopta" Plant in Brno produced only 8 mm motion picture cameras. The "Meopta"
Plant in Mod~any produced exclusively 16 mm motion picture cameras and projec-
tors. The "Meopta" Plant in Prague produced microscopes geodetical instruments
and analytical and technical scal . 7lie 'Teopta!' Plant in Bratislava produced
lantern slide projectors of all sizes, epidiascopes, binoculars, scme special.
laboratory instruments and polarization foils. The "Somet"Plant. in Trnovany
prcduced industrial measuring instruments and equipment. The Plant in Pragie,
former "Eta" Plant, was engaged in development, and production of control instru-
