The airport has received An-10 passenger aircraft, and the personnel of various services are thoroughly studyin- them. According to the deputy commander of the airport for flight training, Anatoliy Petrovich Ovechkin, the An-10 aircraft is good, stable while taking off, climbing and flying horizontally, and well controlled in a side wind. It is provided with the most modern radio-navigational equipment. Unidentifie 'd heavy air- liners have been put into service on local air routes. The plan of operations for 1959 is almost double that for 1958 and is being successfully met. For the Card 1/5 job well done in 1958, the airport was awarded a Deed V SOV/84-59-9-11/66 In the Air and on the Ground of Honor of the VTsSPS. The personnel actively partici- pate in socialistic competition: the best workers have been bestowed the title 11 team of communist labor". They include the crew led by Fostikov, shift teams led by foremen Skrypnik and Belobrov, and -the Komsomol shift of the airport9s LERM. Chief of the LEPJJ, engi- neer Grigoriy Lazarevich Krasner, has noted to the author the following achievements: formerly the replac- ing of engines of an Il-12 aircraft took 5-7 days. Now the came work is done within 30 hours. Engineer Litvin, foreman Popov and turner Dulenko devised and built the otherwise unavailable equipment for testing the hermetical sealing of the An-10 cabins and water system. This airport's JLERM has won first place in the socialistic competition of LERMs of the Ukraizxs- koye territorial2noye upravleniye GVF (Ukrainian Terri- Card 2/5 torial Administration of the GVF). A wide-scale auto- V/ SOV/84-59-9-11/66 In the Air and on the Ground mation is taking place in the communications service directed by technician Andrey Yevstaflyevich Zamotaylo, Engineer Yanushkevich and chief radiomen Berezin, Aba- kumov, Stolbovoy and Moldavskiy have constructed and put into service a series of automatic devices securing good and reliable performace of close and remote pre- cision approach radar, which are now served by 4 radio- technicians instead of 16 as previously was needed. The radio transmitting center and the radio landing beam beacons have also been subject to automation. Similar work is under way in the corridor radio stations. The manager of the airport9s motor pool Mqtviyenko reported on the following achievements: A 250m2/h air compressor has been installed and provides compressed air to every work place. A monorail and an electHc telpher have been installed in the repair shop. F,'lectric welder Kot- lyar has proposed to have the motor vehicle parts wash- ed out in an alkali solution prior to machining, which Card 3/5 has been accepted. The motor pool's gate has been me- SOV/84-59-9-11/66 In the Air and on the Ground chanized and is now operated by a press button from the dispatcher9s control board. A number of other labor-saving devices have been introduced. By nows the airport has become a small town; having a new terminus, residential blocks and a number of new ser- vice buildings, a club, a polyclinic, shops, sport courts.' school, and kindergartens. Airport streets and squares have been asphalted and are shaded by trees. The airport is connected with the city by a trolley line. Great attention has been given to the planting of greenery, conducted under the supervision of agro- nomist Timofey Grigorlyevich Okorokov, for which the airport has received a Deed of Honor from the Oblpro- fsovet and Byuro gorodskogo komiteta komsomola (Office of the City Committee of the Komsomol). About 7,000 trees, 20,000 shrabs and 30,000 flowers have been planted this year alone. A 400m2 hot house markets the Card 4/5 flowers to other organizations; it is going to be 1. --KOilONTSEV, P. 2. At temperatures of 110000 upwards v *olume diffusion predominates, and at lower temperatures diffusion is found along the grain boundaries. The coefficients of volume and boundary diffusion of sulfur in Ni were determined for the temperature ranges 1100-12500C and 800-9500C. The. greatest mobility of sulfur in Ni is observed at 650-7500C, apparently psociated with the presence in the Ni-S system of an eutectic with a melt'ing point of 6450C. The rate of diffusion of sulfur in commercial-grade Ni (N-2).io 1-2 orders of magnitude lower than in electrolytic Ni. Ukrayinslkyy fizychnyy zhurnal, v. 7, no. 3, 1962, 338 TEXT: In studying the photoelectric properties of CdSe single crystals at'liquid-nitrogen temperature, the authors observed that a photocurrent was generated by these crystals. First investiga- tions showed that the observed effect differed considerably from that observed by Ye.A. Sallkov and H.A. Fedorus (Ref.1s Fotoelektricheskiye i opticheskiye yavleniya v poluprovodnikakh, Kiyev, Izd-vo AS UkrSSR, 1959). It could be of great practical value. It was established that the frequency of the current pulses depend on the intensity L of il- lumination of the crystal, varying between 1 and 0.001 cycles. The generation of the photocurrent may stop if a voltage below 160 volts is applied, or if the intensity of illumination is high. The maximum Card 1/2 KONOP, R. KONOP, R. In 7 patients, after the operation rehabilitation of hearing was applied, consisting in treating the ear without tarnponade. In 5 cases the whole tympanic membrane was transplanted to the tympanic cavity and fixed to the stapes. The audiograms were made before the treatment and 1-6 yr. afterwards. After the transplantation of epidermis to the trepanation cavity (52 cases) loss of hearing amounting to about 50 db. for the tones of different frequency was observed. In the cases in which rehabilitation of 56-5--- hearing was applied, the loss of hearing amount-A to about 40 db. In 5 cases, in which the tympanic membrane was fixed directly to the stapes, a considerable im- provement of hearing was obtained an the loss of hearing amounted to 25-30 db. for tones of different frequency. 1606. In publications, the opinion has been established that with an increase in the number of directions in the Shreyber method, the influence of systematic errors of the diameters becomes smaller. It is shown here that in this method, at any number of directions, these errors are regularly diminished, and always more diminished than in the goniometry in sets. In order to show that in the Shreyber method the apparently "superfluous" work is not in vain, an experiment was carried out.here. It showed that the errors in sharp setting and reading in the Shreyber method are smaller than in gonio- metry in sets. The Shreyber method has 3 essential, easily removable, shortcomings. They are pointed out here. In a Card 1/2 summary, it is stated that the method of goniometry in all On Methods of Measuring the Horizontal Angles SOV/6-59-7-6/25 combinations is the best method as to accuracy, and can be used in triangulations of lat, 2nd, and even 3rd order. The goniometry in sets is to be used in triangulations of low orders at a small number of directions, with good signs and under favorable external observation conditions.
