Amendment
The Management Staff distributed for comment a GSA proposal
to amend the Federal Property Management Regulations. The
amendment would require all COBOL, FORTRAN, and BASIC compilers
acquired by the government, and those used by contractors, to be
in compl11anca with Federal Information Processing Standards
(PIPS).
SAFE
On 16 November, 32 Consolidated SAFE Project office
representatives and consultants began the week long Phase I of
the Block I Preliminary Design Review at the TRW SAFE Development
Facility in Torrance, California. Held as a joint
government/contractor effort this review is a major milestone in
the Block I SAFE schedule.

A tour of CAMS TRW space and the new Credit Union Building
has been scheduled for the Director and Deputy Director of ODP
on onday, 23 November, from 1000-1200 hours.

We will present two briefings to DDO users on the uses,
features, and capabilities of PAN VALET. PANVALET is a
proprietary software package used to maintain libraries of
applications programs on disk storage. ODP has been using this
package successfully for several years and has recently made it
available to computer users, like DDO, who run their own
production programs.
