D., Academician TITLE: Soviet-Prench Conference of Historians (Scvetsko-f rant suzskiy kollokvium istorikov) PERIODICAL: Vestnik Akademii nauk SSSR, 1959, Tir 3, pp 96-96 (USSR) ABSTRACT: This Conference of French and Soviet historians was held in Paris from October 21 to 25, 1958 and dealt with the di:3cus- sion of the following six subjects: serfdom In France and Russia from the eleventh to the sixteenth cerituryl the medieval town; new works and the prospects of further research work on tho French Revolution of the eighteenth centuryl social move- ments in Russia until 1861; industrial revolutions and economic crises of thenineteenth centur~r; Franco-Russlan relations at the end of the nineteenth century. It was agreed that experts of both countries held lectures on each subject which were then discussed. The Soviet delegation was headed by V. P. Volgin and consisted of the following members: A. V. Artsikhovskiy, V. I. Bovykin, A. R. Ioanisian, A. D. Lyubblinskaya, A. Z. Man- fred, M. V. Nechkina, B. F. Porshnev, S. D. Skazkin and V. I. Card 1/2 Shunkov. The meetingsusually were attended bY 30 to 50 dele- Soviet-French Conference of Historians 50V/50-5 9 - 3 -27/61 gates. They were characterized by lively discussions due to the different conceptions of the world and the ried)odologLeal principles. These problems will be discussed at the World Congress of Historians in Stockholm in 1960. In conclusion, the author of this paper states that such meetings of 3,3viet historians with bourgeois historians promote mutual information and the interest of foreign countries in Russian history. Authors obtained new data strengthening their previous assumption on absence of mutal dependency in implementation of thryotropic and gonadotropic func- tions of the hypophysis. Normal gonadotropic activity is retained when thryotropic function of frontal part of hypophysis is inhibited, and normal thryotropic activity i:; retained when gonadotropic function is inhibited. Gos. n.-i. in-t tsvetn. met. , 1957, Nr 13, pp 50-57 ABSTRACT: A study was made of the flotation of two samples of oxi&zed Cu ore, consisting chiefly of malachite. When these ores were ground to 50-55 percent -0.074 mm and the following amounts of reagents were used (in kg/t): 0.27-0.21 cresyl frother, 1 5-0 5 Na2S. 0.045 pine oil or terpineol: concentrates containing !7. 3 and 17.5 percent Cu were obtained for the two specimens, respectively, and 80.3 and 72.2 percent of the Cu was extracted. It. should be noted that the recovery of this amount of Cu in the concentrates agrees with the figure for cyanide extraction of Cu. In other words, results of a competent analysis of such ores make it possible to predict the amount of flotation extraction without running flotation experiments. It was also established Card 1/2 that ;f the Na-)S is added repeatedly in the course cf the flotation 137-58-4-6398 Ox.dized Coppt:r Ore Fictatior a greater flctatim speed and greater ext-raction cf Cu in the concentrates is ch.'ained thar if NazS is added all at once.
