SUBJECT: Satellite Communications Requirements ^ 25X1
REFERENCE: Memo dtd 2Z. June 77 for C/SD fm C/P&PS,
same subject (OL 7 2727)
1. In response to the above referenced request,
several m ings were held by Supply Division personnel to
determine requirements for satellite communications between
overseas stations and Headquarters for the period 1982-1987.
2. Supply Division anticipates that by 1982 single
line ite uisitions submitted by Agency activities will
be coded in such a manner as to permit automatic processing
into the Headquarters' Inventory Control System. This
processing will either cause the release of a stocked item
or procurement from other Federal sources, if valid stock
numbers are used.
3. ^ It is requested, therefore, that OC provide
for the transmission of property requisitions and related
information by satellite between the following overseas
station and Headquarters:

4. fl As a result of a 13 July meeting with
of OC, i was learned that coded messages to and from overseas
stations by other than satellite will still be possible. In
view of the relatively low volume of requisitions from re-
maining overseas stations and the stringent satellite space
allocation placed upon OC, it would be very difficult to
justify the transmission of requisitions for other activities
by satellite at this time.
