Title: Concerning Catalytic Polymerization of Acetylene in Solution of
Cuproccimplexes CuCl-NHkCl
Original
Publication: Chem. prLmWsl., 1955, 5, No 1?,1493-498
Abstract: The author represents the chemism of the reaction of dimerization of
Cucl + C2H2
acetylene by the scheme; CH = CH 0 CH(Cucl) = CH 0 CH(Cucl)
+ CUM
CHCH = CH --p. CH(Cucl) = &H = CH2 0 CH = CCH = CH.. Polymerization
takes place not only at phase boundaries but also w1thin the liquid,
which results in the formation of undesirable products: divinyl
acetylene (I), acetylenyl divinyl and higher polymers of acetylene.

Abet Journal: Referat Zhur - Ehimiya, No 2, 1957, 56&
Abstract: Experimental data are presented on dimerization under dIfferent con-
ditions (temperature, CuCl;NH4Cl ratio, CA pressure, and agitation)
and on yield of 1, vinyl acetylene (II), Rna CH CHO. The yield of
CH3CHO remains practically constant under the Zferent conditions.
YiC-Ids of I and II are changed substantially on alteration of the
conditions of dimerization. Large yields of 11 can be obtained
(with all other conditions being equal) on efficient stirring.
Hence, best suited is a horizontal reactor in which splashing of
the cuproccmplex solution takes place.

Orig Pub : Tachn. kinem-togr., 1957, No 9, 9-13
Abstract : Rosults are reported on a curaparison of normal and five
t,,rpes of wide-screen motion picture film as regards the
anount of details that can be obtained on a negative frame
and its positive copy. The number of detoils is arbitrarily
assumed to be equal to the product of the frame area by the
square of the resolving power at its center, or by the pro-
duct of the resolving power in the principal directions for
emmorphotic systems. The resolving power is determined
frora empirical formulas, that t_-d-e into account the pro-
pertics of the negative and positive photographic emulsions,
the focal distance of the taking lens, and the magnificition

that systeris with a greater frame size lend to a positive
image with the number of details that is approximately
twice as large.

Title Cortisone in the Therapy of Hepatic Diseases.
Orig Pub Med. interna,, 1956, 8, No 4, 496-503.
Abstract A survey. The authors assume that in the normal
course of acute hepatitis cortisone should not be
applied. It should be tried in prolonged and se-
rious hepatitis and in cirrhosis, although fre-
quently its favorable effect is of a temporary r-ha.-
racter. Doses of 50-200 mg in 24 hours were app-
lied. Only in severe cases of hepatitis were large
doses used.
