TITLE: The Examination of Corrosion Defects in Power-Plant Boiler Tubes PERIODICAL: Koha'szati lapok, 1960, No.11, pp.481-489 TEXT: The paper deals with experience gained in the metallo- graphic examination of A 35.472(C - 0.17%, 5 - 0.35%, mn - o.4o%, tensile strength = 35-45 kg/mm ) and A 45-47 (C - 0.22%, Si - 0.35%, Mn - 0.45%, tensile strength - 45-55 kg/mm2) type boiler tubes of Hungarian and foreign manufacture that failed in 3ervce mainly as a result of incorrect operation of the power plants. Local over- heating oaused thinning of the walls and led finally to bursting of the tubes. Temperatures not exceeding 723'3C could be recog- j nized by grain growth, recrystallization or, in the case of pro- longed exposure to near 725*C, by a decarbonized region of columnar structure that formed under the influence of 'R 0 + H underneath j 2 the scale layer. Heating to over 723*C showe up in a change from lamellar to globular pearlite or, in tubes that were heated into Card 1/3
