in neM-rwMgy US. LitX.CES. 1956, 95/38 (1052-1055)
In neurology as In the whole of medicine. general preventive measures are valid.
Besides these there are some special features. The so-called symptomatic therapy
may be looked upon as one form of prevention. Not only so-called causal treatment,
but also symptomatic treatment has its Important place in the treatment. which
therefore must by 'potypragmatic'. Further the prevention of several nervous dis-
eases is discussed: neurolues, multiple scleroM3 (especially the danger of lumbar
puncture is stressedLarachnaiditts. neuro-infectious diseases, discopathies. epi-
lepsies etc. In dealing with the prevention of traumatic damage to the nervous syst-
em the author especially mentions the harm caused by boxing. No neurologist can
give his consent to boxing as it is performed nowadays and in which the aim of this
sport is to induce an unconsious state by a series of blow& to the head. The autoptic.
material of fatal cases are eloquent testimony to the undesirability of this sport.
Further the importance of prevention In industrial neurology and in neuroses is
dealt with. Especially In the prevention of neuroses it Is not only the task of medi-
cine but of all laymen, to create an atmosphere of peace and happiness, without
fear, stress, uncertainty and various conflicts. Arout - Prague (VIU, 17)

is a characteristic polyphasic evolution; it is a semiological
not a nosological term. Traumatic myelodelesis is compared to
traumatic cerebrodelesis; the latter includes encephalopathia.
pugillistica, traumatic parkinsonian syndrome, amd intracranial
araeL-ioiditis. For the diagnosis trauma or repeated traumatism,
incomplete restitution, slow prowression, and finally a definite
stabilization should occur. 1 Figure, 7 Wostern, 8 Czech, 2

.4BSTRACT: It has been previously established that staphylococcal toxin at a
x 10-4 g1ml concentration causes irreversible contraction of electrically stimulat-
q guinea-pig ileum and causes graftal decrease in sensitivity to this stimulation.
~veral compounds which counteract the toxin effect such as papaverin, adrenalin,
rocaine, and the SQ 10642 substance were examined and their anticontractile"
influence was evaluated. The dosage used and the degree of counteraction are
described. The conclusion is that while the toxin contraction effect can be counterec

TITLE: Questions in explosive forming of sheet metal
SOURCE: Strojirenstvi, v. 16, no. 10, 1966, 726-729
TOPIC TAGS: explosive forming, metal sheet, metal surface
ABSTRACT: The effects of shock waves on metal are described as depending on whether
their impact is vertical or angular, whether the explosion is directly contiguous to
the metal surfa'ce or transmitted through a dense medium. A'formula is developed to
express the pressure on sheet metal of a shock wave as a linear resilient medium under
pressure of 1000 to 1200 kg-f/cm2. The formula cannot, however, take account of
oblique wave impact, lateral water flow, or curvature.of a metal surface. Nor does it
apply to higher wave pressures, when water no longer is linear resilient. It is con-
cluded that explosion forming is not applicable in serial production and is efficient
only for large parts where stamping would be expensive. The paper was preiented by
Doctor of Sciences, Professor, Engineer, A. Farlik. Orig. art. has: 1 formula and

lasted from 3 weeks to 4.5 yr. in inifividual cases. According to the authors* criteria,
therapeutic physical exercise cannot cure hypertension even in the early stages, nor
can it prevent progression at any stage. A certain retarding influence of physical
exercise on the progression of the disease was. however, noted (of 24 patients, oniv
one degenerated from stage 112 to 1111). Therapeutic physical exercise is an advant~-
geous aid at all stages of hypertensive disease, provided it is carried out correctly to
influence the cardiorespiratory system and cerebral cortical tone, in which case some
retardation effect may be observed in preserving the working capacity and optimism
of the patient. (XIX, 6. IS)

The recent concepts on the role of nervous, vascular and endocrino actions and
humoral disturbances in the pathogenesis of glaucoma attach special significance
to a general treatment. On the other hand, since the role of vit. B12 on the meta-
bolism of glycides, albumins and fats has been demonstrated, it is possible to
attribute glaucoma to a metabolic disorder of the tissue. Ten cases of glaucoma
were treatpd with this vitamin. Improvement was observed in the acuity and the

nerve centres. Puscarlu - Bucharest
