TITLE: Preparation of lower olefines, divinyl and aromatic
hydrocarbons by the pyrolysis of benzene fractions
PERIODICAL: Neftekhimiya, v.2, noA, 1962, -495-497
TEXT* An investigation was made of the pyrolysis of straight-run
benzene from Romashkino crude, boiling between 30- 180*C And
having the molecular weight of 105. The pyrolysis, was, carried
out in a tubular reactor on a laboratory and semi-industriaLecale.
High yields of ethylene, propylene, butylenes and divinyl were
obtained at 8OO*C and contact time of 0*5.sec (othyl*nic regime),
the total yield of unsaturated hydrocarbons reaching 50% of the
feed and the content of divinyl in the.gaieous'products being close
to 45%- The liquid condensate has a highly aromatic nature.,-
For the butylenic regime the best conditions are:
temperature - 7600C, contact time - 1 see at 50% steam dilution.
The yield of butylenes reaches 645 kg and that of propylen*
880 kg per 1 ton of ethylene produced, In addition 1800 kg of
liquid condensate is obtained boiling between 47- 193*C and

containing more than 50% of compounds capable of being
sulphonated. The condensate has the research octane number of 84.
The hydrogenated condensate resulting from the ethylenic regime
pyrolysis has the "research" octane number of 99. It is concluded
that the pyrolysis of benzenes gives a more flexible product
distribution than that of n-butane or propane and may be
economically advantageous. There in 1 table.

the water can be removed, polycondeneation of the macromolecule will

PERIODICALs lzmeritelinaya telduiika, 1959, Nr 6, pp 16-17 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: The authors describe a simple device foil calculating th clearance
between a crankshaft journal and the crankcase bearing',~eat~~as
suggested by N.I. Yendx-zheyevskiy. This device is shown,in Fig.2.
It consists of two disks on which two d:1als are glued.,The dials
are manufactured without any difficultios by photographyi of;draw-
ings. The cost of manufacturing of this device is neglig Ible. The
device is successfully used in shop work. The authors desaribe in
detail the procedure for developing the dial. There are,2 diagrams.

Abstract : The theory of the kinetics of the destruction of superconductivity by an
alternating field, developed by I. M. Lifshits (Zh. eksperim. I teor. fiziki,
1950, M, 834; Referat. ZhurmLl Fizika, 1956, 6727) Is generalized to take
into account the curvature of the speciment and thermal effects, It is shovn
that the maximum thickness of the-normal layer is greater for a cylindrical
specimen than for a plane one. The twerage relaxation speed increpses in the
same tatio. The authors start with the equation of heat balance to take Into
account the thermal effects. The resultant equation of motion of the bound-
ary is integrated for the cases of isothermal and adiabatic modes.

ABSTRACT: The article investigates the phase diagram of bismuth In the pressure range from
26 to.40 kbar at temperatures of 77 to 293K and detects a new transition which in pressure
precedes the lattice transitions B1 I I Bi H -* Bi 111. It is assumed that the transition Is as-
sogiated with change under pressure of the current-carrier energy spectrum. When pressure
is kleduced at temperatures above 200K only two jumps in electrical resistance occur, although
th!J,phase diagram shows that there should be three. One possible explanation Is that at these
Aaeratures the pressures at all three transitions differ slightly, while the resistance jumps
in the Bi I -j- Di 11 and B1 I -j- new phase transitions occur in the same direction. This
makes it impossible to distinguish transitions during the certain chamber pressure disconti:nu-

Ity which is always present when pressure Is decreased, It Is possible that there will be di-
rect transition from the new phase into Bi M. Existing data and the good temperature re-
versibility of the new transition permits the assumption that this transition. is electronic in
nature and may Involve a transition effect from closed to open isoenergetic surfaces. Com-
plete Interpretation of the data would require direct measurements of the dependence of basic
bismuth energy spectrum parameters on pressure. In conclusion, the authors use this op-
portunity to thank L. F. Vereshchagin for attention to the work, A. A. Abrikosov and L. A.
Fallkovskiy for discussing the results obtained, and N. V. Baryshev for constant assistance
in the experimental work. OrIg. art. has: 5 figures.
