A Uruguayan film expeditions representing the Compania Universal Filmioa Exhibiciones (CUFE) of Montevideo s Uruguay entered Bolivia from Corumbas Brazils in June 1951s and its seven t.e'ebers were arrested by Bolivian authorities in late August 1951 at San "Ignacio de Velascos Bolivia, A Captain Buxton s whose real name le JOBC Segundo do Lazo Toledo, was the leader of the groups which included Felix Domingaes Margot Candelas Wilfredo Bonilla Prottas Alberto Casas Calzadas Juan Jose Sonora, Jorge Mario Martiners and Mario Ismael Cordonado. ? 2. The ostensible reason for their arrest was that they had been passed througl' Bolivian customs without inspections at the insistence of the Uruguayan Coe,eil at Corumbas Brazil, Jose Alberto du Olarte. A secret search of their luggeee by the Bolivian police had disclosed Communist propaganda and films portrareng ? the miserable living conditions of the Indians in Bolivia. Letters were elso found which provided evidence that the purpose of their film expedition WE to picture Bolivian life for Communist propaganda purposes. Evidence was alto found that they were to map the area for possible use by Brazilian Communiete in the event of war. The search of the expedition's baggage revealedthat its members hed been detained by the Brazilian Security Police atPorte Uniao, State of Santa -Catarinas.Brazils on 12 June 1951, 25X1 X . /t?
