Ab8trAct: -After reviewing possible harmfu.1 effects of drugs
on the liver, the authors present and discuss a case history
of acute hepatitis caused by the use of Suplin, a phenometra-

use of morphologic tests in addition to clini.cal examination
is strongly urged.

!AMTRACT: The authors consider the use of high-power gas turbine installations as
basic engines and propose a method for optimizing the following parameters with re-
-spect to maximum efficiency: the degree of expansion and compression in the turbine
and compressor groups, the parameters of the working process in the compressors and
iconditions favoring minimum surface area for all condensers. It is aBsumed that the
'gas turbine installation is the single-shaft type wjMh any number.of combustion cham-
bers and intermediate condensers, and that the following parameters are known: the
'initial temperatures of the working fluid before the turbines and of the air before
the compressors, the efficiency of the turbines and compressors and the rate of water

~!flow to all condensers. The hydraulic resistance of the gas and air channels is
taken into consideration as well as the differences in thermal capacities and rates
iof flow in the various sections. The loss factors XC and Xt for the compressor and
turbine groups respectively are found and the condenser characteristics are then de
iermined with respect to a given Xt by varying X.. When the optimum degrees of com-
pression and expansion vith respect to maximum efficiency have been found, the para-
meters vhich determine the compression process may I* calculated. These data are
then used for selecting optimum heat exchanger parameters. The proposed method is
applicable to various types of condenser surfaces with certain changes in same of the
!equations. Orig. art. has: 3 figures, 47 formulas.

ABSTRACT; This Author Certificate presents an automitic welders using a nomelting
electrode in a protective atmosphere for ring and seam pipe welding. The welder
includes an inlet: port, ring-shaped rotatoro welding head, system of roller supportsp
mechanisms for moving and correcting the welding head, electrode wire supplies,
programmed current switchingp and remoto control cquipment. To permit welding of
variable diameter pipe and welding of flanges and rings~ the rotator is equipped
with a mechanism for displacement in.the vertical plane., allowing a rotator body
angle of 0-1050 with respect to the horizontal. The centering mechanism consists
of a fixture which is equipped with grips and shimt-,,ig rings and a conical screw-
driven compensatcr (see Figo 1)9 A second'feature .has two perpendicular worms aB

ABSTRACT:
The S-7B automatic welder for TIC welding tubes 8-26 mm in diarieter with
a wall thickness of 0.5-2.0 mm without filler wire has been built. Thei
.welder is 215 mm high and 110 mm long, the welding head weighs 2 kg, and
the radius of the rotating parts is 40 mm. The small size and weight make
it possible to use the welder in restricted locations without supports for
the tubes being joined. The welder has an attachment for programmed control!
of the welding speed from 10 to 40 m/hr, or of the welding current up to
100 amp. The joints are assembled by mans. of a centrator, without tacking,
and are welded without filler wire and without leveling the tube end faces.

ABSTRACT: This Author Certificate presentp a device for the mechanicaL`retuning
of superhigh frequency (SHF) instrumentsZ5. The device includes a cam coinniiicted
with the drive motor, and a spring-loaded rod which 'boars on the cam and is con-
nected with the tuning unit of the SHF instrument. rhe design increases the re-
tuning precision when the tuning system is combined -with the fine tuning system
of the SHF instrument. A lever is fastened to the cam (see Fig. 1). Platds are
fitted on'the ends of this lever. Opposite to these plates a limiter of the
lever rotation angle is mounted,, connected by two springs with a second lever''
fastened to a shaft. This second lever is connected with the drive motor.-of the

The reagents containing N02, Cl, S03H and other negative groups in the postions
meta to the szo group form the most stable complexes of alobium and give the most
contrasting reactions. The interaction goes on in strongly acid media, 1-6N-HCl in
the presence of tartaric acid and other complexing anional except for fluorides
and oxalates, which interfere. The reproducibility, reliability and selectivity of
niobLum determination is good, The niobium-reagent complexes are readily extracted

ABSTRACT: The article reports an investigation of the formation of complexes between
niobium and R-picramine. 1he reagent reacts with niobium in a ratio of 1S1, and the

a photometric method for determining nioblum in molybdenum, tungsten, uranium,
titanium, tin, and aluminum base a1loys. The method permits determination of amounts
from 0.1% with a relative accuracy of + 10%. A curve shows the optical density as a
function of the acidity of the solution. The second part of the article describes a
differential spectrophotemetric.method for determinirk-, niobium in alloys and
