2. Official calculations place Brazil's installed electric power capacity,
which increased 8.6% in 1952, at almost 1,900,0000 kilowatts by the end
of 1952. Four stations in the Rio de Janeiro circuit, and others of
lesser importance, are scheduled to go into operation this year.
E. timates for 1954 are expected to increase this figure to 2,000,000
kilowatts with the installation of one more station of 190,000 kw
in Rio de Janeiro, three at Paulo Afonso, and others in the States of
Sao Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul.
