1. On 13 May 1947, Zinenko, Party secretary of the raion committee; Pavlenko,
chief on the raion executive committee; Shevchenko, chief of the raion
land department; 7aporozhets, chief of the MGf3; Ivashenko and. Zhmurko,
MGB lieutenants-and 40 armed M VD men came to the village of Duniv
(.Zaleshchiki Rai.on, Ternopol) Oblast). With gun butts they drove people
into the "club houses' where a meeting was to be held on the question of
organizing kol:khozeso 1''hen the villagers started.to leave the premises9
...Shevchenko called a peasant named Ivan Prisyazhnyuk and told him to sign a.
declaration about joining the kolkhoz. (hen the peasant refused, Shevchenko
Hushed him into another room where the MVD men were waiting. when threats
failed to have effect, the 24VD began to boat him about the face and the whole
body. Finally, they put a pencil in his hand and pushed the declaration
towards trim to be signed while the other hand was squeezed in the door
until the peasant had signed the declaration. The same method was applied
to make the other peasants sig,
20 On 26 July 1947, in the village Bozha Volya (Krakovetski Raion, Lvov Oblast),
the IKVD. arrested the following peasants: Ivan Mrudz, Stepan Iialaiko, Stepan
Tverdokhlib, Hrihir Svistovich, Pelaniya Dudich, Katerina Padchak and
Teodosiya.Zhmuto They were all kept for 7 days in the raion prison and in-
humanly beaten in order to -.ke them. sign the declaration about joining the
kolkhoze
3o In August 1947, in the village of Strutin Nizhni (Rozhnyatovski Raion,
Stanislav Oblast) the MVD section led by Kravchuk, secretary of the .
raion Party committee confiscated the cows from the peasants Fedor Kizlov
and Stepan Didokha and all. the movable property and fields from Vasil Dumenko
and Mikola (ITi.khai.l?) Lutsivo because they refused to join the kolkhoz.
Moreover, the peasants Stepan Didos, Mikhai L Lutsi.vo, and Orinchiv Fedov were
fined 5,000 rubles, and Vasil Babiyev, Pavel. Nelnikov, and Anna Mari were
ordered to leave their properties, which were to be taken over by the
? . kolkhoz.
4 On 14 September 1947, in the village Zhabokrich (Kozinski. Itaion, Rovno Oblast)
the first secretary of the raion Party committee,:Kharchenko, and 5 MVD men
called. several peasants one after the other to the village Soviet under the
pretext of.making an inventory of their properties after making everybody
sign the alleged inventory documents,. they made a public announcement that
all these peasants had voluntarily signed an .agreement to turn their
properties to the k-)lkhoz

5? On 2F September 19147, in the village Iiortutsko (Nedertitski Ra.ion,
Droglohyct, Ohlast) two IND men from the local. garrison took Fedov Dudich into
the building of the village Soviet. Dudich heard moans and cursing in the
Moscow dialect coming from the next room. The Party ececutive of the
raion committee., Polishchuk, walked in from that room and said to Dudich,
"Do you know Fedov Dahalava? Fell, he is young and could take it, but you
are old and wi 1 l die in our hands. Sign voluntarily and we shall not beat
you." On his refusal to comply, Dudich was thrown into the cellar, where
he had half an hour to "think it over" He was then Laken into a room.

Kaseyev started to beat Dudich, who fainted and dropped to the floors He
was drenched with water and thrown back into the cellar to "think it over"
again.. This was repeated six times. After the last beating, he was
thrown into a room on a pile of other peasants vho were unconscious. The
next, rrornin , Kolbasa, second secretary of the r-iion Party committee,
walked into the room and, pointing at Dudich, shouted, "Ready". Two MYD
men loaded .Utudi.ch on their shoulders and threi,. him into the yard. Three
days later, the v-1.11 age Soviet chief Il rvnkav, came to t all. Dudich that he had
become a ko].kho7 member, although Dudich had not signed the declaration.
In October 10147, in the village Verhitsya (Kh.odorovski aion, Drogobych
Oblast) 11 faanil.i.es were deported by the bolsheviks for resisting col-
lec tiviratior, nd a young man, Stepan Lesiv, was shot.,
