on the Drug Enforcement Administration. C16 &AP
It would be;most beneficial to our efforts, and
valuable contribution to our hearing record, to have a
statement from you on behalf of the Central Intelligence
Agency addressed to your interpretation of the CIA's narcotics
intelligence gathering functions under Executive order 11905, AUG191
released February 18, 1976. We are interested in how the CIA EJLeLn.tivA Rea%
collects foreign narcotics intelligence, and how and by whom 6_
that intelligence is evaluated and disseminated to other agens-iles..~._
such as Customs, the State Department and the Drug Enforcement
Administration. Additionally, we are interested in any overlaps
that exist between your narcotics intelligence gathering activities
and those of DEA, as well as any problems which may be a result of
any such overlaps.
We are tentatively scheduling our next set of hearings
for the week of August 23. We would like to have you available
for an appearance during that week, if convenient. In any event
we would like your statement for inclusion in the record and for
dissemination at that time. We will notify you of a specific
date of your appearance as soon as possible. ST
