The purpose of e c Terence was to discuss the reasons for the oversupply of brown-coal tar and the possibilities for the elimination of this surplus. It is stated that the present output of the MR carbonisation plants amounts to 1.6 million tons of brown- coal tar per year, of which i,I70,000 tons are processed. One of the major difficulties is that the tzar-processing facilities at the Gam?. chemical plants are inadequate. After discussion of various proposals for the elimination of the brown-coal tar surplus, data are given on cost estimates and the planned increase in fuel-production capacities in connection with the necessary construction of additional tar-processing Installations. 25X lore of the representatives at the abovementioned meeting), concerning the brown-co tar oversupply. The rzain reasons given for the surplus area 1) as of 1951, imported crude oil is being processed into benzine, diesel fuel, and fuel oil (which seems to indicate that less emphasis is placed on processing brown- coal tar for these purposes); 2) increasing productivity of the carbonization plants accounts for the greater output of brawn-coal tar. 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X SECRET Approved For Release 2005/02/17 : CIA-RDP83-00415RO12800030005-1 Approved For Release 2005/02/17 : CIA-RDP83-00415RO12800030005-1 Next 6 Page(s) In Document Exempt Approved For Release 2005/02/17 : CIA-RDP83-00415RO12800030005-1
