Rebel military and civilian groups retain control of Santo Domingo, where the indiscriminate distribu- tion of weapons to the populace continued yesterday. Fmost members of the Communist party in the city are reported to be armed, as are members of other pro- Castro groups.] \ast evening Communist leaders were calling on the people to fight the attack which they expect anti- Bosch military forces under General Wessin to launch momentarily. Communists were preparing Molotov cocktails for use against Wessin's tanks. The rebel "government," headed by Jose Molina Urena pending the return of former President Bosch, has announced the appointment of at least one Com- munist sympathizer to a "cabinet" post. The extreme left seems better organized than Bosch's own party or those elements of the military on his side. On the basis of his past record, it seems unlikely that Bosch would be able to curb his Communist support if he returns to power. agreement with rebel army leaders can be reached that would avoid serious bloodshed. He favors an in- terim military junta to govern until after presidential General Wessin, who remains determined to prevent Bosch's return, has thus far been restrained from a strong assault on the city by the hope that some elections next September. 27 Apr 65 25X1 25X1 qfl 25 Ia 25X1 -% Approved For Release 2003/04/11 : CIA-RDP79T00975A008200500001-5 Approved ForIease 2003/04/11 : CIA-RDP79TO0975A 08200500001-5 t SALT\WASTE EJ11.W J - 25X1 MOST Y COVERED F~L aTER -_ 7 27 Apr 65 CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE BULLETIN Map pproved For Release - OO975AOO82O0560O0-5 Approved or Release 2003/04/11 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO08200 00001-5 J 4 , ~pC ~"~ fie' Pakistani troops repulsed an attack by India's para- troop brigade yesterday and took "counteraction." India's Defense Minister asserts that Indian positions were attacked by Pakistanis in brigade strength. Indian Prime Minister Shastri has again rejected a renewed Pakistani offer of a ceasefire based on mu- tual withdrawal from the disputed area, ruling out any formula calling for Indian withdrawal from territory considered by India as rightfully its own. In the area of the fighting, Pakistani forces ap- parently still hold and are exploiting their military and terrain advantage, while publicly, Pakistan con- tinues to play down the seriousness of the situation. President Ayub Khan has not broken his tour of East Pakistan, and yesterday, he described the situation in Kutch as a "useless quarrel." In contrast, the Indians seem anxious to cover their poor military showing and their limited capabili- ties in Kutch with a barrage of propaganda and repre- sentations aimed at domestic and international opinion. The Indian Army has shown US officials in New Delhi aerial photographs, purportedly taken over the Rann, which show US-made M-48 tanks in action, in an at- tempt to refute Pakistan's persistent denials that tanks have been used. Shastri, moreover, has held urgent and well- publicized consultations with high-ranking political 27 Apr 65 25X1 25X1 U Approved For Release 2003/04/11 CIA-RDP79T00975AO08200500001-5 Approved and military leaders and has described the situation in Kutch as "very serious." 25X1 25X j 27 Apr 65 6 1, 25X1 Approved For Release 2003/04/11 : CIA-RDP79T00975A008200500001-5 25X1 Approved For Release 2003/04/11 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO08200500001-5 Approved For Release 2003/04/11 : CIA-RDP79T00975AO08200500001-5 Approved F 003/04/11 - - 8200500001-5 THE PRESIDENT The Vice President Executive Offices of the White House Special Counsel to the President The Special Assistant for National Security Affairs The Scientific Adviser to the President The Director of the Budget The Department of State The Secretary of State The Under Secretary of State The Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs The Deputy Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs The Counselor and Chairman of the Policy Planning Council The Director of Intelligence and Research The Treasury Department The Secretary of the Treasury The Under Secretary of the Treasury The Department of Defense The Secretary of Defense The Deputy Secretary of Defense The Secretary of the Army The Secretary of the Navy The Secretary of the Air Force The Assistant Secretary of Defense (International Security Affairs) The Assistant Secretary of Defense The Chairman, The Joint Chiefs of Staff Chief of Naval Operations, United States Navy Chief of Staff, United States Air Force Chief of Staff, United States Army Commandant, United States Marine Corps U.S. Rep., Military Committee and Standing Group, NATO Supreme Allied Commander, Europe Commander in Chief, Pacific Commander in Chief, Atlantic The Director, Defense Intelligence Agency The Director, The Joint Staff The Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Department of Army The Director of Naval Intelligence, Department of Navy The Assistant Chief of Staff, Intelligence, Department of the Air Force The Department of Justice The Attorney General The Federal Bureau of Investigation The Director National Aeronautics and Space Administration The Administrator The Atomic Energy Commission The Chairman The National Security Agency The Director The United States Information Agency The Director The National Indications Center The Director 25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 2003/04/11 : CIA-RDP79T00975A008200500001-5 Approved For Ref ase TVF4/S R 9T0097 8200500001-5 TOP SECRET Approved For Release 2003/04/11 : CIA-RDP79T00975A008200500001-5
