About 250 Washington journal-
ists have urged high government
officials to combat sex discrimi-
nation In journalism by refusing
to attend the forthcoming annual
stag dinner of the Gridiron Club.
A letter containing the appeal,
signed by- men and women who
have formed an ad hoc group
called. Journalists for Profes-
sional Equality, has been sent to
President Nixon, Vice President
Agnew and other officials usual-
ly invited to attend the dinner.
Membership in the all-male
:Gridiron Club consists of men=
lbers of the. Washington press
.corps and is by invitation only.
The dinner is March 13. -
