Figure 1 graphically illustrates the portions of the border areas that were covered by photography (cloud cover and other limitations on photographic quality are not depicted). ULAN-UDE ARMY BARRACKS BEREZOVSKIY, USSR 51 53N-107 31E The following items of interest were noted on WAC 201 This installation continues to show a medium to high level of activity. A large amount of equipment is located throughout the installation--approximately 100 probable tanks/assault guns and more than 200 additional unidentified vehicles. CHOYBALSAN, MONGOLIA 48 04N-114 30E 25X 25X coverage of this complex. Comparative photographic coverage of 25X indicates that at least 30 new buildings are either under c struction or have been constructed in an area immediately south of the Choybalsan Airfield (See Figure 2). A large ditch related to the new construction is also observed in this area. The airfield appears active but no aircraft were observed. The following vehicles and pieces of equipment were noted throughout the complex. 200 Trucks (approximate) 2 Probable truck mounted cranes 1 Probable van type truck 6 Canvas covered possible tracked vehicles 42 Rail cars (See Figure 3) A large amount of unidentified material (possibly construction material) was noted in several areas adjacent to the Choybalsan rail facilities (See Figure 3). 25X Approved For Release 200I09OSE 1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 SHERLOVAYA GORA ARMY BARRACKS, USSR 50 31N-116 23E Activity at this installation appears to have increased slightly since photographic coverage of A secured vehicle/equip- ment park (See Figure 4) contains 3 possible tanks/SPG's and 45 unident- ified vehicles. Approximately 55 other vehicles were scattered through- out the installation area. Two POL storage areas and 2 buildings under construction were also noted within the area. on photography WAC 203 BIROBIDZHANIARMY BARRACKS AL-l, USSR 48 47N-132 53E Two probable vehicle sheds in an early stage of construction were noted in a motor park in this installation (See Figure 5). Significant features at this installation are the four drive-through service buildings that are located in the support area and the two large earth mounded arched roof drive-through buildings in the separately secured probable storage area (See Figure 6). *For additional amplification of this unidentified possible cruise missile system see the document referenced on the last page of this report. 25X1 25X 25X1 Approved For Release 200TNo$E NE 25X1 or Release 2003 /Q4.S f&[Tr78TO5161AO00900010078-5 Approved I TOP WAC 291 CHERNYATINO ARMY BARRACKS AL-1, USSR 25X1 43 58N-131 28E Photographic coverage of fair quality over this installation reveals a large number of vehicles in the main motor park area. A review of photographic coverage reveals that this installation was present on photography of Comparative photography does not indicate that any significant changes have occurred at this installation since Identification of the installation from previous missions was precluded by the small scale of the photography. The inst- allation area contains approximately 10 barracks, 10 vehicle/equipment sheds, 30 support buildings, and minor training facilities. (See Figure 7 for vehicle/equipment count). WAC 335 HO-TIEN. A secured explosives storage area (See Figure 8) with 11 revetted buildings and several U/I vehicles is located approximately 3 km SE of the field. An SCR-270 type radar, a voice communications facility, a POL storage area, an aircraft firing buttress, and approximately 70 U/I vehicles were noted throughout the area (See Figure 8). No aircraft were observed at the field. 25X1 Approved For Release 200 ' OSEME 11 TOP SECRET pproved For Reje~OQ9~QQt/~3/Q? %M78 Q5161A0009 0011OO788_5 .25 25X1 ' : (;I-I Y ti/~L /~N (i /~ 25X1 - proved For RCHOYBALSAN, MONGOLIA5161AOO JJjj 25X1 25X1 25X1 1 25X1 25X1 Airfield 2.5 km FI U re ~~A ' P SECRET Fig Ipproved For Release +03/03/04: CIA-RDP 8T05161A0009000100 1 TOP SECRET Ap roved For Release 2003/03/04: CIA-RDP78TO5161AO0090 25X1 25X1 CHERNYATINO ARMY BARRACKS AL-I SHERLOVAYA GORA ARMY BKS Figur' pnroved For Release 2003/ T051 61 AOOO9OOO1OO78 SOP SECRET TOP SECRET proved For Release 2003/03/04: CIA-RDP78TO5161A000 00010078-5 25X1 25X1 25X1 CIA PIR- 7273 BI ROBI DZHAN ARMY BARRACKS AL-I Figure 5 Approved For Release 2003/03/04: CIA-RDP78T05161A00090001007, 8- p CFCRFT I I oved For Release 2003/03/04: CIA-RDP78TO5161A000 00010078-5 TOP SECRET - KKAMYT KUT POSSIBLE CRUISE MISSILE SUPPORT/STORAGE FACILITY 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 Figu r, p roved For Release 2003/03/04: CIA-RDP78T05161A000900010 SECRE I __r &prj FojMeasjW31ow: cmDP7S516W090001 078 ARTILLERY UNIT, POKROVKA 25X1 25X1 108 Possible 152 mm Gun-Howitzers, 24 Possible 130mm Field Guns 1 95 Possible ATS, 52 Unidentified Vehicles, 29 Cargo Trucks 2 Possible Van Trucks, I Possible UAZ 69 Utility Vehicle 25X1 Approved For Release 1A000900010078-5 4 pproved For Release 2003/03/04: CIA-RDP78TO5161AO009 0010078-5 CIA PIR- 25X1 t Communications Facility aircraft Firing Buttress POL. 2 km 25X1 25X1 ' 05161A000900010078jp SECRET Approved For Release 200M0t4Et P78T05161A000900010078-5 30069-6 G-7 lst Edition, March 1962 (UNCLASSIFIED) USAF, ONC E-8 lst Edition, April 1963 (CONFIDENTIAL) E-9 lst Edition, September 1960 (CONFIDENTIAL) F-10 2nd Edition, January 1963 (CONFIDENTIAL) NPIC cable CIA-P 151 (OUT 58153) of 5 April 1966 (TOP SECRET REQUIREMENT CIA.
