THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. in the barracks located on 1 I,1vAria Street,, there were billeted about 800 Russian
anidlers with black a??au? att ass. There were light trucks parked in the cou rtyaard;
2. In the buildings of the former police barracks, sections of a tank unit were
billeted, consisting of about 1,000 men, The men wore black e;~aulettes with a
red border and tank insignia. There ware in the courtyard a'oout 20 T-34/85
truck and about 12 traoked-v?ehicles.
4. The cavalry barracks more occupied by a Russian tank unit of about 1,200 men. 25X1
5d the communications barracks were o about 300 men wearing communications
troop insignia on their sloeves.
The County Seat Building served as headquarters of a Russian upit. Russian military
police, about 250 strong, was also located in the building.
The warehouses on, SOptei Street were used by the Russians for food depots.
8. On Perint Avenue, next to the river, )many private homes have been requisitioned by
the Russians. There were about 600 man with black opaulettelp quartered there.
9. Villas at 26-31 Boris Street, at the. corner of Vas Jdzr of Avet41ie, have been re-
quisitioned by headquarters of the ?.
3. The artillery barraoke o P-rra vdni Street were occupied by a Russian artillery

10. About 45 tanlat type T.34/65, are parked in the public gardens.
1l. Hotel Urania serves as a Russian warehouse.
12. On the square nearthe;hospital for.oontagious diseases there were about 40 tanks
and-tank destroyers of the types T.34/85 and SU-1000
13. At the Halads,s sports arena .about 40 T-"34/85, Stalin III's, and 12 SU-100 were
observed.
.14. In the old Ezredbves Park about 35 T34/85 tanks were soon.
16, During the period'of observation an increased amount of traffic and activity has
been observed. Loaded light trucks were seen going frgm one barrack to the other,
an well as to the railway station. It-appeared that the unite were prepar.ng to
leave for the sumer maneuvers.
1.6. The new barracks of the AVE are ivoated on SBptei Streets At the time of observation
they were occupied by about .420 men. There were also about 60 policewomen-in
Szombathely.
