SOFIYA Class tanker alongside fitting-out quay (LQA approx 755'). 2. Unidentified possible workshop (YR) or barracks ship (APL) moored along- side quay (LOA approx 320'). This vessel is characterized by a long, straight hull with a rounded bow and a stern in the form of a truncated arc. A superstructure, nearly the fall width of the hull, runs at one level from a point near the stern to the forward quarter of the hull at which point it steps down near the bow. Also aresent on this vessel are two lifeboats positioned athwartships on the superstructure amidships, and a. single mast centered. near the forward one-third of the vessel. The hull of this vessel appears similar to that of tho vessel moored outboard annotation 3 below). The entire vessel is similar to one later seen at Gorkiy Shipyard 112, Gorkiy, USSR (56-22N 043-5-;E) (See annotation 18, Figure 1, CIA/PIR-77036). Unidentified possible workshop (YR) or barracks ship (APL) (LOA approx 320'). The hall of this vessel is similar to the vessel indicated by annotation 2 aboie. This vessel differs from the one inboard in that it has a superstructure that runs nearly the length of the hull at one level. A small "house" surmounts this superstructure forward of amidships. A ",oal:ost" mast/kingpost straddles this house. This vessel is also similar to one later seen at Gorkiy Shipyard 112 on (See annotation 0. Figure 2, CIA/PIR-77036.) 4. Large floating crane alongside quay (approximate dimensions of platform 165' x 85'). 5. BOLVA Class APL in slip (LOA approx 0 6. ZEYA Class YRSN - Nuclear Ship Support Barge (LOA approx The l(,:ogth of this vessel was derived by scaling stereoscopically from known lengths of vessels and previously derived dimensions for objects on the ground. The LOA of this vessel was also measured by the Technical Intel_.igence Division (NPIC) monoscopically and determined to be Approved For Release 2003/03/28 : CIA- 5161A00130001 TOP SECRET 25X1.1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 5X1 Approved For Release 2003/03/28 : CIA-RDP78TO5161AO01300010048-3 TOP SECRET 25X1 25X1 CIA PIR-77012 Probable barge at head of fitting-out slip (LOA approx 300'). The hull of this vessel is characterized by long parallel sides with a semi-rounded stern and a "squared-off" bow. This vessel has no super- structure; however, along each side there are parallel skeletal-frame sidewalls (sunlight can be seen passing throuk>;h these walls) that run three-quarters the length of the hull. This vessel appears to be used as a mobile storage platform and has been previously identified as a floating dock on smaller scat Iphotoprraphy. It presently appears to contain possible vertical and other unidentified objects. Probable floating vertical screens are noted on this mission at both Sudomekh and Zhdanov Shipyards, Leningrad. This vessel is similar to the vessel seen at annotation 12 below. 8. DOBRYNYA NIKITICH Class Icebreaker in fitting-out slip (apparent LOA approx 225'). 9. ANDREY ZAKHAROV Class Fish Cannery Ship in fitting-out slip (LOA approx 0. 10. Empty building way. No evidence of new construction is visible on this building way. Al- though the caisson appears to be closed, the end of the way is still flooded with water. 11. Hull of large unidentified vessel under construction on building way (major measurements were undetermined; however, the beam appears to be roughly 100 feet at the after portion of ,..he hull). 12. Probable barge alongside quay serving possible POL storage area (LOA approx 300'). The appearance of this vessel is similar to the one seen at annotation 7 above with the exception of the side walls - they appear to be solid rather than open. Three (or possibly more) cylindrical objects, ranging in approximate size from 25 feet to can be seen lying on their transverse axes within the barge. Two of the objects appear to have their tops covered, but it cannot be determined whether this covering is permanent or temporary. One cylindrical object is not covered and the interior portion can be seen. A single, long, dark object spans the diameter within the cylinder. The function of these cylindrical objects is unknown. 13. Two floating cranes.
