1. The headquarters of an unspecified infantry divisioa in Oradea were in
four buildings forming a square and bordered by the following streets:

Armatei Roil Street (former Dorobantilor Street)

Apart from divisional headquarters some of the buildings were also used
as barracks for unspecified 'Rumanian infantry troope.
Rumanian artillery barracks were located in eight two-story buildings
60 by 20 reterreeach, along Aradului and Abatorului Streets.
A Rumanian vilitery hospital consisting of three oa four large buildings
was located cm Nicolae -4iga Street.
4, Barracks of 10 Frontier Guard Regiment were Iodated in a series of build-
ings along Weczey Street and.Armatei Rosii Street. The following is the
key to the aketch of the layout of the barrack attached as Appendix A:

Street. In the courtyard were a series of buildings used as stores, liv-
ing quarters, dining hall, washrooms and detention cella.
. The 5 Security Battalion was located along the Paraul Pets. River, with
the main gate on Armatei Rosii Street. The following is the key to the

located near the Traiaa Park.
9, Political Training School No. 1 was located an Armatei Rosii Street, next ?
to the Headquartere of Ian. infantry division (No. 1 abate) and opposite the
barracks of 10 Frontier -Guard Regimene (Noe 4above). Thie was formerly
a Hungarian calvary gehople It consisted of five three-story buildings
measuring about 50 by 40 meters eadh. The school was operated by the mann
istry of Interior. There were about 1,000 students. attending a course
lasting three .years, They left the school as warrant officers end were
posted to units. under of the Ministry of the Interior, such an

missed from the service as an anti-Communist. His second-in-command,

13. During the period 1948.1949 about 1,500 students attended the school. Their
ages ranged between 16 and 23. They had been selected by the Communist
-
Party and after the course they were posted es second lieutenants to units
of the Ministry of the Interior, such as Frontier Guards and Securitate..
Students warp the Rumanian Army uniforn and cholder boards with tha letters
MAl. The course was mainly political and held only once a week, Two to -
three hours were devoted to drill and military training in the open air.
Students were allowed to leave the barracks every Sunday between 211:rrand -

16. -Military Hotel of the Ministry of the Interior, formerly Pales Hotel, lo-
cated on Regina Maria Square. It was a four-story brick building, 6C. by
40 meters, Which was extensively altered between May 1949 and March 19519 -
at an expense of 220 million lei. The ground floor accommodated kitchens
. library and the clubroom of the Dinar? Athletic) Club, The remainder of
the hotel was used as living quarters for bachelor officers of the. Ministry
or the interior units stationed at Oradea, rooms for officers in transit.
