This will acknowledge receipt of*your letter of
August 31, 1970, by which you submitted your resignation
as an investigator with the Committee on Internal Security.
Your resignation is hereby accepted to be effective November
30, 1970.
I regret to learn that your physical condition is
such that it will . prevent. you from continuing in your present
capacity. I am most appreciative for the fine contribution
you made to the work of the staff and for the excellent manner
in which you discharged your, investigative responsibilities
during your many years of service to the Congress. Your dedi-
cation to advancing the best interests of the United States,
particularly in the field of internal security, has been highly
commendable. Your extensive experience with, and knowledge of,
.subversive activity has-been of great assistance in accomplish-
ing Committee objectives.
I thank you for your kind remarks concerning the
Committee and extend to you my.very best wishes-for improved
health and continued happiness in the future.
