November 1982 marks the passage of 25 years since the
U.S. Government initiated its substantial effort to trans-
late and disseminate information from foreign language
publications by establishing the U.S. Joint Publications
Research Service. From the beginning, the success of this
venture has depended on the skills, professionalism and
dedication of people such as yourself, hundreds of whom
handle the daily work of translating, editing and typing
the vast quantities of material processed by JPRS.
