The Marhwi-ri Army Barracks (Figure 1),
situated 1.3 nm east of Marhwi-ri and approxi-
mately 220 acres in area, comprises 3 separate
road-served areas.*
Barracks Area A contains 19 quarters-type
buildings (30 x 20 ft), 12 barracks (85 x. 30 ft),
15 support buildings (ranging in size from 45
x 15 ft to 85 x 35 ft and totaling 20,000 sq ft

support buildings (totaling 11,850 sq ft of floor
space). Area A has a capacity of 1,050 troops.**
Barracks Area B, situated north of Area A
and probably associated with Areas A and C
as a dependents housing and storage area, con-
tains one large multistory (',-shaped adminis-
tration, one small C-shaped administration,

and one other administration building, 84 quar-
ters-type buildings (30 x 20 ft), 9 storage build-
ings (120 x 20 ft and totaling 21,600 sq ft of
floor space), and 21 support buildings (ranging
in size from 20 x 20 ft to 215 x 35 ft and total-
ing 36,300 sq ft of floor space). A 4-gun,
in-line, probably occupied, light AAA position
is situated on a ridge line immediately east of
Area B.
Barracks Area C, situated north of Area
13, contains 6 barracks (85 x 30 ft), 3 barracks
(45 x 30 ft), 3 a ministration buildings, one re-
verse-F-shapes administration/support build-
ing (totaling api roximately 8,100 sq ft of floor
space), one po-sible theater, and 18 support
buildings (rangi g in size from 40 x 2l) ft to 105
x 35 ft and tota' rig 29,000 sq ft of floor space;.
Area C has a co acity of 485 troops.*
Approximately 25 vehicles were observed
throughout the L, rracks area.
