This report has been prepared in response
to CIA requirement C-RR4-81,810, which re-
quests coverage dates and information on con-
struction status, configuration, on-site support,
and equipment at the possible SA-3 SAM site
near Poznan and the SA-2 site collocated with
it (Poznan SAM Site B25-2). The 2 sites are
located approximately 10 nautical miles south-
west of Poznan, the possible SA-3 site at 52-
19-EN 16-39-SE and the SA-2 site at 52-20-
25X1D ^N 16-39-.E (Figure 1).
Both sites first appeared on photography
and
were complete at that time (Figure 2). Both
sites can be negated on
- coverage. There was no cloud-free
photography of them between these coverages.
The possible SA- 3 site has an irregular con-
figuration, and consists of 6 revetments and an
unrevetted possible guidance area. One revet-
ment (Figure 2, item 5) does not, in configura-
tion, resemble an SA-3 revetment. The other 5
(Figure 2, items 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7) are similar to
the launch revetments normally found at SA-3
sites. The access roads to 3 of these 5 (items
4, 6, and 7) appear to have turning radii too
small for the passage of a standard SAM (i.e.,
SA-2) missile transporter; however, the missile
transporter at Mys Set-Navolok SAM Site de-
scribed in NPIC/R-1535/64I/ could easily

negotiate the turns. The road turning radii for
the other 2 revetments (items 1 and 2) appear
large enough for any known SAM transporter to
negotiate. One of these revetments (item 1)
measures 60 by 40 feet (inside dimensions).
Selected center-to-center distances between
revetments and the possible guidance area are
given in Figure 2.
It appears that the preferred direction of
fire for the possible SA-3 site would be either
over the possible guidance area or over the
collocated SA-2 site. This conclusion is based
on the geographical location of the possible SA- 3
rather than its orientation. The orientation
cannot be determined because of the site's
irregular configuration- -the method of bisecting
the site by an imaginary line through the guidance
area cannot be used.
The SA-2 site has a fan configuration, and

consists of 6 revetted launch positions which on
coverages appear possibly
net or canvas covered; 3 missile-hold revet-
ments each with a building/environmental shel-
ter approximately 40 by 30 feet; and a possibly
canvas- or net-covered central guidance revet-
ment which on coverages
appears to be occupied. In addition, 3 clearings
which eventually might function as missile-hold
positions are located 550, 605, and 620 feet,
respectively, from the center of the guidance
revetment. One clearing measures approx-
imately 75 by 45 feet. On-site support is
provided by 3 multistory buildings, 2 approx-
imately 145 by 50 feet and 1 approximately 145
by 30 feet.
No equipment could be identified at either
site.
